Curious.  Why do AEON blocks always contain a minimum of two transactions?  Where is that little one going?

I think it's because each block allows a single zero mixin tx and someone has been spamming it up.

building on ubuntu or in a virtual machine running ubuntu is not hard. I think all you need to do is:

apt-get install build-essential cmake libboost-all-dev1
git clone https://github.com/aeonix/aeon
cd aeon
git checkout v0.9.9.02
make
cd build/release/src
./aeond

1 If you are using Ubuntu 14.04 you will need libboost1.55-all-dev (default version has a bug and should not be used)

2 Replace with current release tag

Updated build instructions to add the missing package (thanks Arux)

thank you Smooth

Hashrate is almost doubled since yesterday - was 0.85 and 1.8 now.
Difficulty is grew up to 411778770.

Mining is so slow now and seems unefficient at all Sad

Whats happend, guys?

So the price should rise x3-x5 or miners have to switch to Monero/etc...

With current difficulty and price it is already more profitable to mine Monero.

I also noticed that 2 days ago the difficulty rose allot. For immediate profit gain Monero is starting to look even or better. Hopefully the value of AEON will rise to make up for the increased difficulty.

This coin is so undervalued right now.

Has there been any press or promotion of it lately?

Appreciate any links thrown my way.

I agree, though most of us mining this coin for fun rather than expecting huge profits

You can follow the instructions here --- https://minergate.com/faq/how-to-create-aeon-wallet --- Make sure to have the aeond.exe finish synchronizing before starting simplewallet.exe (it will say you may now start simplewallet when it is ready). It will take some time to synchronize fully.

Aeon seem to be suffering from lack of dev resources - missing GUI, missing db integration. Prunning is no option for an exchange, for users missing GUI wallet can be serious disadvantage.
As smooth holds a serious stake in a development fund I suggest to invest larger sum into the further enhancements. For example other cryptonight coin Karbovanec has a nice GUI, sumokoin that was recently released has db backend.. I'm sure there are developers with skills but they won't work for free.

While Aeon is reaching all time high every other day, how about growing the team and offering some bounties?

There is a significant hashing power on the network, do we know where it is concentrated? Funding multiple pools to spread the hashing power is also good thing to do.

@smooth: I know you've been having some hard times, but are you still with us? Do you plan to invest your time or significant amount from the fund into all above?

If you are using simplewallet just type "balance" in the wallet and it will show how many coins. If you are solo mining it will take allot longer to find any coins, so it may just show 0 for quite awhile.

1. Yes I'm still here.

2. The donations fund is about 450K AEON. At current market prices (which are very volatile), that's about 135 000 USD, assuming it could all be sold without crashing the market, which is unlikely. Can you pay a development team for that? No (well at least not for long). Can you pay bounties for some work? Yes, and we have done so for various things like mining and pool software. (Also offered for web site development but that was done for free.) I'm happy to offer more bounties if people step forward to do work. Failing that I'm happy to continue holding the coins in case they become worth enough to actually fund a good development effort. Will that ever happen? Who knows.

3. I'm reminded of Charlie Lee telling us a while back that LTC didn't need 'features' (at a time when coins were always trying to one up each other on features to capture market interest). He was right. Most of those coins are gone and LTC is still here (and at its own pace and in its own way is getting features too). Likewise, AEON is still here. We may not have all the features but we have a coin that works, where security and maintenance releases get made when necessary to keep it working. We have a good community. In time we will likely get our features too, at our own time and in our own way.

4. I wish any other coins (cryptonote or otherwise) the best with their projects but what they do is their business. We have our own plan and direction.
