Hi all! Can someone explain to me in few words why aeon is so awesome?
The reason why I focus on AEON because its recent price has risen while its market value has been declining, and I think it will return to where it is supposed to be, so I'm optimistic about it

But what the reason of market growing?? Maybe this is developers pumping!

AEON is a light version of MONERO
So this project has 2 features very attractive in my opinion:
-Low requirement for mobile and efficent on normal hardware
-Protect user id transaction for privacy
Just this, no hype or pump.

Just make a GUI wallet pleaseeeeeeee.....  Smiley

This seriously. Mac version too.

What's the status from dev?

I run the daemon and wallet from Mac for my personal account. It's a straight forward build, just follow the instructions on GitHub and make sure you have the correct dependencies. You can do it!  Smiley

Perhaps you could point me to how to do this? Didn't find any instructions on GitHub and find the site generally confusing. Note: I'm not a dev, zero clue how to build a GUI wallet.

Quite astonishing there isn't a GUI wallet after 3.5yrs when Aeon devs would have no trouble building them from code which is already written on GitHub. What's stopping them from doing this apparently simple task?

I'm not sure I follow.  Roll Eyes

Here's the command line daemon & wallet for OS X. The instructions worked for me; https://github.com/aeonix/aeon
*************************************************************************************************
On OS X:

The project can be built from scratch by following instructions for Unix and Linux above.

Alternatively, it can be built in an easier and more automated fashion using Homebrew:

Ensure Homebrew is installed, it can be found at http://brew.sh

Add the repository: brew tap sammy007/cryptonight

Build wallet: brew install --HEAD aeon
*************************************************************************************************

Again, not a dev. This makes no sense, no clue how to compile anything from GitHub. Homebrew...yeah again this makes no sense, I see terminal commands going on but have zero clue what it's doing. Is malware being installed? I have no idea. Doesn't seem like a good way to make people jump through confusing hoops just to safely hold AEON in a desktop wallet.

I need a .dmg file to be able to install the wallet on Mac. Sure I'm not the only one wondering wtf we're doing trying to install wallets using confusing command lines in Terminal when this coin is 3.5yrs old and Monero has all the installer apps for every operating system. Stumped.

AEON devs, why just make GUI wallets already?? This is the only coin I'm holding on an exchange because there is no wallet installer.

Edit- I believe I installed Homebrew and Aeon wallet according to Terminal. But here is no Aeon QT in applications folder. Have no idea how to run the wallet or where it even is on my hard drive. Come on devs you need to make this easier ffs!

you can also, do an cholecystectomy.
its pretty easy.
you need a surgical table
general anethesia
get some trochanters and go to work.
really should take about 30 minutes from start to finish.
I really cant see why more people dont do it more.

Ha! Might as well be performing a cholecystectomy here probably just as easy as installing Aeon wallet. Yep, looks like my coins are staying on Bittrex for now Sad

Update on rebase bounty

I have received one submission of (claimed) working code for the rebase bounty. I'm evaluating and testing it and expect to be opening it up to wider community review and input shortly.

Can you tell us who the developer is? I assume it is not slb from the tone of your announcement hehehe. If it was him, you would have said it already.

In any case, let us see. I am not that optimistic it will pass the smooth standard however.

@Steve_Sanders. It is more recommendable to connect your client to a public node.

Don't trust web wallets either. Prefer desktop wallets and if possible hard wallets. Bittrex is another good option since I'm making more from trading than from mining Sad .

Sketchy, no one should trust this not to steal your Aeon. The site could upload your seed. Not even a FAQ page saying anything about seed security or who the devs are.

Edit - web wallet devs posted on Reddit but I find it odd they mention nothing about seed security or how the website handles the seed when you paste in into the account box and click Login https://www.reddit.com/r/Aeon/comments/7qceqa/aeon_pocket_secure_web_wallet_for_aeon/

The trochanter is not a surgical instrument.  The trochanter is the bony lump near the top of your femur.

Update on the rebase bounty submission

The code that was submitted somewhat works. It is capable of syncing to the chain and running a node. There are several remaining issues and questions that I'm working out with the developer, and not all of the criteria mentioned in the guidelines post are entirely addressed yet, but even at this point I feel it would qualify at a minimum for a partial bounty award.

The bounty remains open for other submissions, there may be multiple winners as described in the guidelines.

The monero GUI can be easily adapted after the rebase.

The coin is not pumped. Simply more and more miners prefer to keep it for the long term. Therefore, the offer on the exchange is very limited now.

Very good thank you! Indeed, many are waiting for this. Although I admit the wallet on the command line gives a huge pleasure in the form of a sense of return to the origins - "back to main"
