I'm curious about how different countries or even different states/provinces within the same country approach the issue of personal rights when dealing with police.
Also, if you don't know what your rights are you can say so as well. Because I don't exactly know either and I'm curious. I assume many people aren't clear on this issue and I think it's something that is important to know.
Especially interested in the contrast between western cultures ie US/Canada vs European differences.
Also, if you believe your rights should be different than they are feel free to explain your position.
And real stories about how your rights were upheld or even violated would be interesting too.

Here in central Europe and in my country police thinks they are way more than normal civilians and that law allows them to hit us and we can't do anything against it (few of my friends got beaten on police station already and nobody has done anything against it, if htey use wet towels you will have no proof).
