My reasons are pretty simple. Because I wont to earn some money and because I want to see how the virtual currency will do. Of course the money factor is way more important Wink

In the beginning it was all a dream for the cream

Now it is to hedge against fiat money and get away from trusting banks and governments.
Also I believe there is huge potential in bitcoin.

I think in the future that it will be used in ways we cannot imagine today.

And of course get filthy rich at the same time Wink

that's my plan! filthy rich is not necessary, but somewhere on that trajectory works for me. in the time that i have made so much money with BTC, i have also come to view it as quite revolutionary. Smiley

You're alone there. The rest of us use Bitcoin for our health.  Grin

Seriously, Bitcoin will never grow to huge numbers of users until users outnumber speculators and investors.

It's all about that cold cold cash.

It's ironic because Bitcoin is all about providing an alternative to fiat. But it seems that most people in the Bitcoin community are only (or primarily) interested in Bitcoin because they see it as an opportunity to increase their fiat.

Well, it may not just be fiat per se. It could be purchasing power. The distinction right now is that bitcoin can only be spent on so much. But when it can be used to purchase everything that fiat can, at scale, things will look much different.

Did you manage to succeed? It seems to me that most persons who buy Bitcoin for that purpose end up losing money Tongue

I joined a while ago, as a developer I was interested in it.
I was scammed as well, but I admit it was partly my fault.

My biggest regret, I could have turned my miners on a long, long time ago, (when I first heard about it), I would probably be sitting on $500K now.
But I chose to wait instead Sad

Simply its the future and I really hope it reaches it's potential and makes a lot of people happy. I don't want to spend Bitcoin because its so precious to me.
