I haven't seen any mention of this, and the summit happens on September 10th. The website is -
https://blackblockchainsummit.com/

The objective is to improve the black communities with the use of blockchaintechnology. I think it's a shame that the emphasis is on skin colour, rather than on the improvement of under- privileged communities in general.

What do you think?

Hi Jet. I understand your thinking. I see it from this point as the need of the black community to segment, study, improve and see the scope that their community can achieve with the use of blockchain technology.

Another sample of the black community that I can compare is Black girls code as a community whose vision is to incorporate women of color in the digital space of 7 to 17 years.
Or Black Panther a American superhero created by Marvel

The strange thing is that I see that a few days to start the event, in social networks it has very few publications. However, my thinking is a positive initiative of Black Blockchain Summit,
Thanks for this interesting topic!

I agree. I think also that any and all such conference needs to be very critically examined.

A crypto conference is not a priori a "good thing." It can be a bad thing, where mis information is rampant and bad shit coins are promoted.

The only speaker that I know on that list of speakers is Max Keiser, and he's the only one that's not black. lol...

this summit is racial oriented. it would be easier for black people in the usa to get independent from white people by simply migrating to simbabwe, simbabwe is desperate for farmers. as it has constantly economic issues.

This right here, I think most 'crypto conferences' are just filled with a bunch of scammy ICO companies that are trying to steal peoples money with their shitty coins.

I also don't understand why there has to be an emphasis on skin color, it makes no sense to me in the least - I mean I guess there could be a market for things like this, but wouldn't it just be smarter to just appeal to all people instead of putting off all other races and people in favor of one race.

But, I guess we'll see what this conference actually does -- probably will just be a big load of nothing though.

Did Black People Own Slaves?

One of the most vexing questions in African-American history is whether free African Americans themselves owned slaves. The short answer to this question, as you might suspect, is yes, of course; some free black people in this country bought and sold other black people, and did so at least since 1654, continuing to do so right through the Civil War. For me, the really fascinating questions about black slave-owning are how many black “masters” were involved, how many slaves did they own and why did they own slaves?
The answers to these questions are complex, and historians have been arguing for some time over whether free blacks purchased family members as slaves in order to protect them—motivated, on the one hand, by benevolence and philanthropy, as historian Carter G. Woodson put it, or whether, on the other hand, they purchased other black people “as an act of exploitation,” primarily to exploit their free labor for profit, just as white slave owners did. The evidence shows that, unfortunately, both things are true.

In a fascinating essay reviewing this controversy, R. Halliburton shows that free black people have owned slaves “in each of the thirteen original states and later in every state that countenanced slavery,” at least since Anthony Johnson and his wife Mary went to court in Virginia in 1654 to obtain the services of their indentured servant, a black man, John Castor, for life.

And for a time, free black people could even “own” the services of white indentured servants in Virginia as well. Free blacks owned slaves in Boston by 1724 and in Connecticut by 1783; by 1790, 48 black people in Maryland owned 143 slaves. One particularly notorious black Maryland farmer named Nat Butler “regularly purchased and sold Negroes for the Southern trade,” Halliburton wrote.

Remember black blockchain   your next village is your enemy   so make sure you keep it a secret from the next village  because it was your next village who sold you and cut you up to bits all for guns and what not..

See in our lands we are getting told to mix   BUT in Africa they are getting told to kill the whites PLUS they don't want us having nothing to do with black blockchains
WHY?  I can rap and dance you know Wink  so why am I not welcome Cry Cry OH and I smoke a doobie doo Grin Hmmm maybe I buy some dredlocks and some black shoe polishi might get in the summit   like ALEX JONES ..

jes some black people owned slaves, and also some white people, does that matter the majority never had slaves, though for both groups black and white. plus many where enslaved, by their central bank, during the abscence of slavery (abolishment), the rich in those societies had also their slavemaster (rights movements, criminals) so its difficult to see there where ever societies where everyone was free except he got mentally deuluded.

central bank enslavement is also a form of enslavement and it affected both white and black

I think separating events and celebrations for only one race just creates more racism.  Do we really need special incentives that hire minorities or a whole month to honor black history month? All this does is divide everyone and creates more hostility.

I think this event is ridiculous for singling out one race of people.

Ah, this could be it right here.

I suppose if you're trying to appeal to a certain crowd, this crowd being the whole SJW Black Lives matter crowd then yes this may actually be what's going on. Sad to see that people are even going to these lengths to attempt to fill peoples pockets with shitty altcoins. It really gives Bitcoin a bad name.

The black blockchain summit
https://blackblockchainsummit.com/

I dont like this segregation. Its often pure racism like white people can't attend.
Even name of "black lives matter" is stupid, all lives matter, human live matters not a specific race.

Will there be also Yellowblockchainsummit? Redblockchainsummit? Its just stupid.

Imagine that group of white people make white blockchain summit i guess it would never happen
Yeah i could imagine that, people that would organize such summit would go to prison for beign racist.

Black blockchain summit! WTF. This is really sad.  Cry

As a white male i despair when i see this. I'm in the UK and we are force-fed multiculturalism and diversity and when i see events such as this being allowed all i think is that anyone who isn't black is not welcome. I have friends from multiple racial backgrounds and race/colour/creed is irrelevant.

If we are all to get along as human beings, events like this are most definitely not the answer.

Can't believe in the supposed civilized world 2018 we are still talking about peoples race and skin colour! SMH!  Embarrassed

I feel disappointed at things like this especially in this time where civility should count for something. When shall we accept the truth that we cannot be same and appreciate the differences? according to one of my teachers when i was much younger, she said we are all made from the dust. the reason why your skin is different from my own is that the Creator choose a different colour of clay to mold you and used another colour of the same material to mold me. so whether black (as a matter of fact there is no human colour as white but we have fair coloured skin and brown or dark brown skin) I dont bother myself, humans are humans.Your usefulness to your neighbours and by extension the world is what is important. I cant really express myself but we should out grow this racial issues already. The world has enough problems begging for solution and skin colour is nothing near the solution.

Of course the real irony is that the white denigrators ( that word is getting a bit close to a no-no word) of black/brown people, spend large sums of money to lie on the beach in the sun toasting themselves, and they get quite cross if they don't turn brown.

Max Keiser will be speaking on that summit, and his keynote speech is entitled "Satoshi Is Black: Economic Liberation!". The bold part, was it a typo, should it be "Economic Liberalization"?

TBH, I never cared about the word "black" from the start. What I find intriguing is the word "Arusha Declaration" from the homepage of their website. They can call it "black" because of "Arusha Declaration" which was announced by a black president anyway, and many of black people have forgotten about it. They might be pushing something using the blockchain technology, and I hope their agenda is not about any type of currencies or monetary system.

Thanks, for bringing this topic. I learned something knew, and now I can say that Jacque Fresco was not alone.

Normally, if given a choice to do something and nothing, I choose to do nothing.
But I will do something if it helps someone else to do nothing.
I'd work all night if it meant nothing got done.

This is what actually creates possibly dangerous group thinking.

This is simply pure stupidity, an event with purpose but no meaning.

On the surface, anything can be hijacked for some agenda.

In reality, blockchain is a procedure, and a protocol that can be described mathematically.

well the c-pro blockchain is definately not racial, i have black, americans, russians, germans, teamembers and i had chinese and indian teammembers once too, everything that matters is the success of the blockchain corporation, race doesnt matter here.
