"Dunvegan Space Systems is on a one-man mission to disrupt the spaceflight industry, through free market principles, bitcoin and engineering knowhow. My engineering background is software engineering in the Linux kernel and on the Internet. Networking. DSS’ aim is to bring networking to space. Although the latency will be measured in minutes not milliseconds, you should be able to download a video from a server on Mars, or view weather.com’s weather forecast for Venus just as easily as you can on Earth. The solar system should be wired for networking, as a first step towards space exploration, and eventually, settlement."

So cool...This is one of the best things about Bitcoin == Limitless possibilities coming from the people involved now that (some of us) have money to pursue almost anything.

If someone actually organises something like that I'd toss a bit into the pot.

It wouldn't be the moon but atleast the bitcoin would reach yet another 'all time high'.

Very interesting interview.  So once we start terra-forming Mars and beyond we can then eliminate mother earth as a single point of failure for the network Tongue

Another person that doesn't understand, and asked softball questions
Quote
Catherine: Long term, could this replace the internet as we know it?

She clearly has no understanding about what this means for bitcoin.

Also I think this is too soon for something like for bitcoin, as the protocol isn't out of beta, but I am not surprise Jeff will go forward with this, as he is coming from the Gavin school of thinking, who cares that the protocol isn't fully hashed out, we need these stupid features.
