The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

You need to first establish a market for it, or at least somebody starts selling SDR for bitcoin.

You need to first establish a market for it, or at least somebody starts selling SDR for bitcoin.

You can also agree on a price using an intermediate currency, typically USD.

By the way, I think it would be useful to have a tool to quickly convert between BTC and any arbitrary currency, using an intermediate one if necessary. I have the very same problem with MXN (mexican pesos).

All you'd need is a JPY price and you can directly calculate the value... 1 SDR is USD 0.66 plus EUR 0.423 plus GBP 0.111 plus JPY 12.10... JPY represents about 9.4% of the SDR's value, so you could get a rough approximation (barring dramatic changes in the yen's value) from something like

1 SDR=1.10375*(0.66*BTC/USD+0.423*(BTC/EUR)+0.111*(BTC/GBP))

which would give 1 SDR=0.9869 BTC (from 1 BTC=USD 1.574 (last 24h), 1 BTC=EUR 1.30 (last 24h), and 1 BTC=GBP 0.7428 (last 7d)) or 1 BTC=1.013 SDR.

MagicalTux you're in Japan... where's the Yen exchange?

Heh, I just learned that the U.S. postal service lists SDR/USD conversion tables:

so SDR are currently a mix of some fiat currencies?

I bet govts will try to stuff that down our throats as the "new reformed global currency" with "watertight regulated central world bank".
