Perhaps as the feather in its cap following a week of high-profile changes, Bitpay has announced that Elizabeth Ploshay has joined its team as an account manager. Hot on the heels of ex-Visa stalwart Tim Byun’s appointment as chief compliance officer, Ploshay explains the move, which comes at a cost of her position at Bitcoin Magazine, was the right one. “Leaving Bitcoin Magazine was a difficult decision to make but a necessary step,” she writes in a blog post, “This change will allow me to concentrate my time on expanding the Bitcoin user-base and fully support the work of the strongest Bitcoin company.”

That's great that she's focused on upping the user base including charities and non-profits. In 2011 alone, there was $300 Billion in charitable donations just from the USA let alone the rest of the world. Think about how great the PR would be if BTC, at minimum, became known as the unit for charitable givings especially across border lines. Even more so for disaster relief. Get the American Red Cross to start using send aid in BTC to other countries and BitPay could change it for dollars on the front and back end if needed. That'll jump market cap quite a bit. Good news is good news.
