Germany v Portugal - 1pm Local Time - Arena Fonte Nova, Salvador - Group G

Arguably one of the biggest match-ups of the tournament so far, Germany and Portugal will play out the early kick off. Both sides have big question marks over key personnel, with Germany’s Manuel Neuer and Bastian Schweinsteiger and Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo having to pass late fitness tests.

Portugal’s likelihood of claiming a victory will be so reliant on Ronaldo being on song that if he’s even slightly below par, it’ll be hard to look beyond the Germans claiming all three points, priced at 1.85.

Joachim Low’s side do look pretty light in terms of goalscoring options, however. The 36 year old Miroslav Klose is their only out and out striker named in their squad. As such, it may well be a tighter clash with fewer goals than expected. The 2.10 on under 2.5 total goals appeals.

Iran v Nigeria - 4pm Local Time - Arena da Baixada, Curitiba - Group F

Many are writing Iran off as whipping boys, but it’s certainly worth considering their record during the tenure of present manager Carlos Quieroz. Over 38 games, they’ve scored 73 goals and conceded just 25. They also come into the tournament in form, having lost just once in their last 12 matches.

Meanwhile, Nigeria were the least prolific of all 32 teams during qualification, scoring just 11 times. Backing an Iran win at 4.08 could pay off dividends.

Ghana v USA - 6pm Local Time - Estádio das Dunas, Natal - Group G

These two nations meet in the group stages for the third tournament in a row. Ghana are the side Goal Difference’s prediction tool give the better chance of progression from Group G and the Black Stars won both of their last two clashes with the United States 2-1.

Backing them to win for the third time in a row looks value at 2.34. If you’re partial to symmetry, Ghana making it a hat-trick of 2-1 victories is priced at 8.81.
