EDIT: It's done - solution found!Hello. I have Windows 7 and i’m using the bitcoin-qt client v0.8.6-beta. Last night i tried to open up the client / entering my wallet – but there was a message that said i had some issues with the blockchain. Which is weird, i never had a problem before so i closed it and reopened the client… And suddenly the blockchain started to download it self from the very beginning (!) backlog of like 260 weeks. But the old (and already downloaded) blockchain is still on my pc – so why dosen’t the client recognise it? The bitcoins are still inside the wallet – or at least it shows them. Please help…

Update immediately to 0.9.1!
And then try again.
<0.9.1 have serious security issue.

You might be on the old incorrect 0.8 fork, lol.
Update to 0.9.1 and let it sync again, or import your private keys into a lightweight client such as Electrum.

Thank you guys for the answers. Yeah, i'm kinda oldschool  Can u guys control my way on how to update (the client) without screwing the hole thing up? Let's go: I have found this: https://bitcoin.org/en/release/v0.9.1 according to it, i have to shut down my current old client (done) then: 1. download the "bitcoin-0.9.1-win64-setup.exe" file from the link above 2. run the installer on that .exe file 3. afterwards start the client and it will sync it - and voilà, it's done ... right (??) |

Try running bitcoin-qt with -rescan. If it doesn't work, either back up you wallet.dat, reinstall or import keys into Electrum. |

i took a look at this "-rescan" and recognised that it's a couple of levels to high for my understanding  Oh well.. will try the client-update and come back to report once it works. Thank you! |

Ok, it's done and running again!  The problem was, the client was doing something called " reindexing". But don't ask me why it did that (?)... So now i have an updated wallet and everything is good. Thanks guys! |
