Should be a good discount with 550+ s3 miners so far. In your experience, how much of a discount should we be seeing in %?
Would be nice if they would release more information prior to the weekend.
DoubleDD
~5%-15% (this was as a wholesale buyer, not a GB)
@waldohoover
Thank you again for organizing this GB!
Qs:
- I would be in for at least 10 pcs, hosted with you (if possible) if the GB price is right == around 0,85-0,9BTC/S3.
- Have you thought about hosting&handling price yet ? Based on usual prices and expected power consumption of S3, would it be possibly around 50-60USD per machine/month ?
- In case of hosting, will you be able to supply PSUs ? If so, what would be expected price (around 50USD/PSU maybe ?)
Sorry for these Qs - it might be too soon to ask them, but anyway thanks for your reply and GL with GB!
Np
- I'll put you down for 10 (hosted interest)
- Still working out specifics but your estimate is right around where mine is looking
- Yes, I can supply PSUs as well- I haven't done my scouting on those just yet but providing them won't be an issue. Hopefully I can get a wholesale price if I host enough machines to bring down costs.
waldo,
I may be interested in getting one S3 hosted.
I have read some of the group buys you have organized and have some concerns: such as,
You have changed terms AFTER miners have arrived and you started hosting, like increasing the management fees, sometimes doubling the fees. Can you give us assurances that you will not change the terms set forth at the start of the groupbuy?
I have another concern that I'd like to address after my question above has been answered.
Sincerely,
What I'm assuming you're seeing is when people assumed my electric rate would be cheaper than it ended up being.
My original terms were this:
3% to cover hosting. Terms were changed because 3% didn't even cover the electric, let alone the cooling, cables, psus, etc etc etc.
So I said ok, I'm raising the fee to keep the machine on, at this point I was paying to host miners
So yes, I charged a 'hosting fee' that was just the exact rate I paid my electric company. Meaning, I did all work for free and everything else was out of my pocket - the only fees they were charged was the bill from my electric provider.
With that being said, those people you're referring to:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=230391.msg7393299#msg7393299Now, that was my first GB - yes, there were a lot of things that I had to learn along the way and a lot was assumed. I used to just react and play it day by day. Now, I plan, plan, plan and plan. I've been through a lot (you can all see my history) and you can see I've always taken care of anyone who has done business with me. Still paying dividends weekly and have been since 2013. Still here trying to help everyone out (and stay afloat of course).
Additionally, this is not a GB. This is an interest group for S3s - I'm wanting to do this as a reseller, not necessary an organizer. So there no "terms" because again, this is just an interest list.
Lastly, any hosting fee I announce will never be raised from here on out. I learned before with my example on % charging and will be using a different pricing method to avoid those issues.
As far as I know one host miners mainly due to the interest in it as a hobby and not as a pure business for profit.
Also electricity is not the only expense when hosting. The overhead for making there heavy KW run safely is also expensive.
Above all, there are a lot of man hours need to be dedicated and many unknowns.
