A long time ago I purchased 3.5 NEMstake on Nxt AE. I definitely purchased these before the infamous 'deadline'. How can I redeem my stake?
NXT-PTGU-G4JY-6Q4S-FHGZH
The deadline was for redeeming not for purchasing. If you did redeem it then your stakes should have been created in the genesis block, otherwise I'm afraid there is nothing anyone can do about it. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

The deadline I'm referring to was for trading NEMstake on Nxt asset exchange. My NEMstake hasn't moved since July 2014. They qualify under 'NEM stake redemption was not done before deadline. -> Redemption possible after launch.' The XEM are on the blockchain, and somebody, somewhere is the custodian. So what's the procedure to redeem?

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

I bought and stashed a few XEM last year, can't remember exactly when. I have name.adb and name.wlt, as well as the password I used when creating the wallet. I do not have the private key. When I run the client, it sees the wallet, but when I type the password it tells me:

"Oops!

ERROR 123

NIS: ADDRESS BOOK COULD NOT BE READ"

Is all lost?

Your wallet seems to be fine.  Your address book not so.

You can try a few things.

1) You just needs to change the name of file.  If it was more than one word and he used the back up wallet feature, it saved in the wrong format.  Renaming the file will fix it.  (but I forget the trick.  I think it involves put a "_" in between the words)  (Please make a back up copy to play with when doing things like this)

2) He can wait until the next Lightwallet comes out and import into it without the address book as long as it was a wallet with only one account.

3) If you know the password.  Remove the two wallets from the NCC folder.  Create a new wallet with the same name and same password.  Deleted that wallet but leave the address book file in the NCC folder.  Now paste in the original and good wallet.  If it was just a problem with the address book file, then you will be able to log into your wallet just having lost all your address book contents only.

If any of these work, please also back up the private key.

Here is a tutorial about locating wallet files.  http://blog.nem.io/how-to-find-export-or-delete-your-wallet-and-address-book-file/

hi guys,
I want to use the lightwallet. It asks for a few things:
1. wallet name
2. account address
3. private key
4. password

i know 2 en 4.
I have a wallet file like: london.wlt.
is the wallet name the same as london? and is there a way to retreive the private key from the wallet file?

thanks in advance

If you don't have your private key backed up, the quickest way to get it is to do follow this guide.  Once inside get your private key.

By default it is set to 1 account, and when starting depending on the configuration that gets taken, which confuses people.  The easiest way to fix this is to follow this guide.

BTW - how it was possibl;e to remove data from XEM blockchain?  Is it that really easy to do?

No, it's impossible to delete data from the blockchain.

read post above for the answer to that  Cheesy Cry

Don't feel bad, I held a bunch of VPN last year but due to circumstances similar to yourself I had to dump.

Fast forward 8 months later and it shoots up,  Cry .

But for some reason I forgot about my other alts including NEM, so I am not that sad.

I share some of your sentiment.

well tbh, i dont feel all that bad really.. yeah i lost out on HUGE bank, but theres still plenty of opportunity to make bank and if it wasnt for having the nem i had i wouldnt have been able to start a software dev degree in the first place so gota be thankful for that as well as numerous other things, and especially thankful to the devs and everyone else that helped.  Smiley

At least the profit was well reinvested in education, can't complain about that.

The filename doesn't contain any spaces or special chars does it ?
Where did you keep those files ?

No special characters or spaces, no. I stashed the files on a USB drive. I'd assumed in my apparent ignorance that I could retrieve the private keys just (like with pretty much all other alts) by saving the encrypted wallet files and the password. I have those, just not the private keys unencrypted, and the current wallet won't open my files.
Doomed, right?
sadface.png

The files and the password should be enough. Either the files got corrupted on that usb drive or you're using the wrong password.

re: silver coins  (absolutely no rush)

Please remind me, does the whole Nemesis get one?  If yes, do I remember correctly that there's an option to get an additional stake instead of a coin (or to get the respective value of the coin in XEM or something like that)?

Thanks in advance!   Smiley

If the silver coin plan is viable then yes, afaik everyone in nemesis gets 1.
The thing about an additional stake...first time i hear about that. Don't think that was an option.

I believe you could opt for the coin shipped to you or a coin token on the AE which could then be sold.

UGH. you reminded me of my VPN holding. I only sold because i was changing computers and wanted to clean up all the "shit" coins i held. 250k sold for $60. $2670 today and was higher. My biggest fail though was not buying on the NXT IPO. I was just about to press the button and had a quick look back on the thread when i saw a new post by the OP saying he thought the house was being watched. I thought this guy is nuts and cancelled my order.
