Not anything from development point of view but yeah NEM was mentioned in the conference of petro (Venezuela crypto), but the Petro is based on ETH. I am sure the government fully dont understand the difference between ETH and NEM. But yeah it can be fomo.

It is a bit puzzling about the price. There are some awesome marketing initiatives such as Inside NEM and it seems the founders are all over the world talking it up at conferences and so forth. Plus there is all this great news from the development point of view. I would think the price would be higher than it is, but I know a lot of coins remain undervalued for a long time and NEM seems to be one of them. Also, it may be that in cryptoland, people are so impulsive and want their millions now and will quickly move on from a coin that is stable to one that has more flashy growth at the moment. If I had more money I'd be picking up more of this coin now. At some point its price should break through and stay much higher than it is now, I would think. It's just a matter of when.

Before any pump, must be some acumulation phase, after that/at the end some panic moves phase/flash crashes - see 4h chart @poloniex - what a mess this was there at the beginning of december, pure shaking of impatient "investors" - see 4h candle with shades up and down (dip was around @12cents):

Patience is the key in this kind of activity (some fundamental trust too) instead of buying on hypes (like "wechat hype"). For me "wechat hype" was signal to seek exit with profit (especially after skyrocketing Bitcoin), not to buy and pray for 5, 10 or more $.

My target for XEM upmove was basically 1.7 - Mr. Market did even 2$ (around 1 month after "point of destiny" that's normal)

The next so called "point of destiny" is for me 3.9$ but of course Mr. Market can do even higher - depending on circumstances (like Catapult and other fundamental infos). And i hope that we will see this upmove, like we saw it many times before in case of XEM.

Oh, I really hope we're past dumps down to ten cents! But other than that, I totally agree with you I just might sell some if the whales pump it to disproportionate heights again, because perhaps I could buy it all back much cheaper...  Trading... so not my forte!

Here's an interesting short piece on how a high percentage of ETH smart contracts are vulnerable to attack for various reasons. I think if NEM's smart contracts are truly more robust (I think they are but lack the technical know how to judge), the marketing people should make a lot of hay out of this one.

Ethereum's two big issues are security and scalability.
At the moment Ethereum is #2 with 19% of the market cap, but that will change.
NEM is far more secure by using off-chain smart contracts and Catapult should resolve any concerns with scalability.

Its funny how expectations change over time. Members of the NEM devs said that they expect NEM to reach $0.05 to $0.1. Dont panic. This was over a year ago and it seemed like goal too lofty at the time but look where we are now.

A transaction for 500 coins is not shown on the network of NEM, their blockade. Both transactions I deduced from a stock exchange on a cold purse. You can tell what the reason is; inconsistencies of nodes? Why did not the second transaction come and I did not receive the coins?

Thought I'd drop by here and let you all know what's going on between myself and NEM right now...

I flew out to California to talk to Jeff about getting my coins from the initial distribution, but he was less than helpful. Since then, I've successfully gotten myself banned from the NEM and Cryptocurrency subreddits because of this issue. I guess I just don't know when to stop.

Some people will roll over and go away when you cheat them. I'm done with that. I will not stand for corruption. The NEM foundation has dug it's own grave with this, and they'll learn some basic ethics or will go down in flames.
