33 BTC for a supernode? Is there too much money?
Even when I have available 33 BTCs, I will not use them for investing into one NEM supernode.
The cost is too expensive and it's very risky to invest a huge money into only one supernode, and one altcoin.
I will use 33 BTCs to invest into different coins, not only NEM.

Yes of course. Only a nutter would do that. It's more for early adopters. There are enough of them so there's been no move to reduce the required amount of coins. That may change if numbers fall away.

It was a smart choice, 33 BTC for me could be for 33 altcoins and if 70% of the funds were profitable and the remaining 30% I lost, I was still profitable 40%. That is the name of business.

I would like to bring up a good point a person on NEM official forum posed:

Quote
NEMSecretariatOffice wrote:

In the development for Catapult, there will need to be localised trainings (likely most will be digital) that can be understood in all levels (enterprise, government, individuals, startups etc), guides and manuals along with partnerships with other parties with the distribution and scale. This all supports to the development of Catapult.

A lot of the work will come also after Catapult is launched, like the commercialization, localisation to various languages, projects to manage etc. We are taking a revenue-driven approach through some sort of consulting, advisory (managed by the Chief Revneue Officer) for NEM Foundation to continue to provide support for version updates and further applications to be build on Catapult.

Quote
spizzerb replied:

thx for trying to answer my question but i have to ask again:

given that one of the goals of this propposal is to advance the development of catapult, how does it actually achieve this? from looking at the numbers I don't see a clear focus on tech development itself

the propsoal calls for 8M of which 2.5M (31%) falls under the CTO. of that, there appear to be only 4 FTEs (together at 275k) working on nemtech development (excluding docs and websites). what happened to the positions listed on nem.io jobs?

Out of 8M in funding you only plan to spend 275k on actual devs which support catapult/nemtech development. Can you pls comment how this fits the strategy "catapult first"? Jobs from nem.io which are online at the moment are not considered in your proposal at all. Why?

Thank you

The new foundation basically wants to give themselves 2.5M USD and the devs, who actually do 99% of the work, only 275k USD. Smells really fishy and scammy.

And who is NEMSecretariatOffice? Who handed her the job and from my understanding she is asking for a 500k USD annual salary. When was the community informed about her hiring? How did it happen?

Vote "NO" on the new proposal by the "foundation".

Reward the developers and those who hodl through the gains and losses.

Fund a small marketing team who answers to the community and developers.

Don't allow the "foundation" to enrich itself again at our expense.

Phere is ongoing Pool Vote for:

Give John Fenley 210,000,000 XEM instead of funding the NEM foundation and he will sell a small amount to fund research into finding people who are owed stakes. He will then arrange to meet up with them and present them with a giant novelty check for 2,250,000 XEM. Video of the presentation will be made public, and the XEM will be transferred when the stakeholder is ready for it. Unused funds will be returned in 48 months.

Can anyone explain this?

Regards

There is no exact and full list of former foundation salaries. The future salaries however can be derived from the costs presented in the recent funding proposal for 2019.
The video lists the costs for employees and their roles starting at 27:49. I work in the technology field and the planned salaries are average for full time employees.

What you are saying is that NEM foundation paid ghosts high salaries that now they cannot be accounted for.

That's not a well thought out excuse.

Singapore has strict financial laws, there has to be a record where employees were hired and how much they were paid.

NEM had a registered office in Singapore with "employees" working there. Unless that was a lie also.

What kind of returns could I expect, say I had 10k investments and started harvesting, how many xems could I get?

Depends on your reputation. Among other things, the more transactions you made the higher is your importance. I have several accounts for several use cases and all are harvesting. One of them has around 12k XEM (so similiar as the amount you're asking for). It usually finds 3-5 blocks a weeks, many are empty but some contain fees. Back in November I even found a block with 320 XEM in fees.

However, you need to consider that your amount is not completely used for harvesting from the beginning. The reason is vesting mechanism. Your balance will gradually be counted as your harvesting balance.

I too happen to have a few tens of thousand of XEM buy I have no idea on how to use them for harvesting, IF that is possible with such little quantity, where can I find detailed instructions on how to do that?

I guess you can find all the instructions on their official website. Also you can use the search at this fomus, probably someone has already discussed it.
