When "booting the local node" what should the node name be?

I actually tried this, but I get "NIS Validation Error". What exactly does booting the local node do?

I already ran the server before starting the client, so is it actually already running?

booting actually connects you to nem network, before that you are disconnected and unsynched

I get error 307 whenever I try to boot local node. but I still got 20.000 NEM thanks again for the martini

Whatever you wish - would probably be best to use your nickname.

I can share the love now since I just asked the same Q. You can use anything, but probably makes sense to use your nick. If you get the NIS VALIDATION error, trying restarting both NIS & NIC.

NEM Alpha on Mac OS X / Linux

Install Java 8. Check java -version via Terminal, it should return 1.8. If it doesn't you need to set a symlink to your new version.

Confirm by typing java -version again, should return 1.8.

1. Download latest release from http://bob.nem.ninja
2. unpack and cd to package; set permissions:

chmod +x nix.runNis.sh && chmod +x nix.runNcc.sh 

3. first launch Nis

./nix.runNis.sh

4. open new terminal window, cd to package dir and launch Ncc

./nix.runNcc.sh

5. head over to http://localhost:8989/ncc/web/index.html
6. click on the arrow next to your username (top right corner), boot local node

Sounds like you dont have the latest version of java.

You need at least 1.8
