I have some questions (silly ones and more complicated ones), to, probably,  help some "lost" people:

 - 1) Are each stake still composed by 1,000,000 ( one million) Nem coins?

 - 2) Can I buy more than 1 stake on NXT Asset Exchange??

 - 3) What gonna happen to those accounts who was banned, or don't claim their stake??

 - 4) What will be the  deadline to claim a stake, after the official public announce?

 - 5) Can someone sell their stake to another user, before claim their stake?

 - 6) Can a user have 2 stakes ( for him and his girlfriend / boyfriend ) + one stake from NXT asset exchange?

 - 7) My computer got hacked and I lost my Nem Account (imagining the stakes were already claimed)... what can I do??

 - 8 ) Is there a bounty if my logo got choosen by Nem community?

I know the response to most of this questions. But certainly, there are people asking themselves this questions.

My english isnt that thing. If you dont understand, just ask and I'll reformulate the question.

People might want to check out the Honorcoin thread. BTT accounts were hacked. Some of these accounts also have NEM accounts.
This guy is one, taken from the koracoin thread

Honorcoin thread..

I think there are people that still dont know KeePass password manager.

Using the same password at all places are really complicated.

Each mining pool, site, mail and others things I use a strong and new password, generated by the keepass..

The same thing happens whith some pools. The admin uses the login to see if the others pools from the same coin have the same pass and login  Tongue

KeePass is a must! I now have 167 passwords in it and it is unimaginable for me to do that without KeePass.
Also for NXT (since it is a brainwallet) I use over 200 character password - totally random and with many many very strange characters.
I prefer KeePass over LastPass because it is totally free (even on mobile) and opensource and local (but I sync using DropBox).
If anyone needs help with setting that up, let me know!

People - use different passwords/passphrases for every service/thing you use/do online!

Same principle but I use and therefore recommend LastPass with the addition of two-factor authentication using a Yubikey.

When can I claim my stake? Smiley Is the launch already happen? thanks

No, Launch has not happen. We are now in alpha testing phase. You can try alpha server/client and use monopoly NEM money to test it.
If you want to claim a stake and sell it as a NEM token on NXT AE, you can do that, but the real NEM currency/units don't exist yet.

thanks Smiley 1 Nem token is worth 30k now?

Is it going to be more you think after official launch?

You have a private key of an account and want to add that account to the current wallet.

The way NEM is listed on coinmarketcap is actually advantageous.  When the coin does actually launch, it'll increase 4 times in capitalization overnight -

so it could hypothetically pop up on launch day between $20 to $40 million (#4 to #6 on coinmarketcap) and everyone would be thinking "what the heck, who are these guys and how did they enter the top 5 so quickly".  It may even trigger an aurora styled buying frenzy.

thats what I said earlier haha I contacted gliss to see would he change it to 4000 stakes but I don't think he will. The pop up after launch might be be better though for the reasons you stated! Smiley

Ps. Etc on the rise again. Could be an explosive couple days ahead

We need a see more demand and less people sellin their precious stakes, though nxt declining to normal levels after that peak could be keeping the price at this level in the moment.

IMO i think we need more marketing and especially for total newbies, client seems more attractive than blockchain.info or nxt-client. NEM look fantastic and i can found similarities with twitter and Facebook with UI and overall "touch".

The client looks like something that i would call "New economy" and that's a lot.

the many who can't afford .1  between now ant then could hold the market up if not cause a surge in price (I think)

This would certainly be my preference. I think part of the price is because of artificial scarcity because there is limited supply on the exchange. We haven't seen the introduction of 75% more supply in an instant. Remember the early days of the AE on NXT and the dumpers did their dumping for a bit and I think things have now consolidated (long term investors cashing out weak hands 2:1). More demand chasing shrinking availability as long term investors hold more coupled with the alpha demonstrating progress will probably set the new bar at a 30K floor. The other 75% of coins will need to shake loose their dumpers first on launch day. My guess is we see a bit of a drop in PPS on launch possibly outweighed slightly by the increase in supply, a small rise in market cap if not a small dip, and a surge once it stabilizes. I think if one were looking to get cheap NEM it is possible that you'd pay slightly less on the open market in the first week than on the auction though not less than today's AE I'd guess.

NEM Alpha on Mac OS X / Linux

Install Java 8. Check java -version via Terminal, it should return 1.8. If it doesn't you need to set a symlink to your new version.

=> Symlink on Mac OS X:
Code:
sudo ln -fs "/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/Home/bin/java" /usr/bin/java
Confirm by typing java -version again, should return 1.8.

1. Download latest release from http://bob.nem.ninja
2. unpack and cd to package; set permissions:
Code:
chmod +x nix.runNis.sh && chmod +x nix.runNcc.sh
3. first launch Nis
Code:
./nix.runNis.sh
4. open new terminal window, cd to package dir and launch Ncc
Code:
./nix.runNcc.sh
5. head over to http://localhost:8989/ncc/web/index.html
6. click on the arrow next to your username (top right corner), boot local node

Enjoy Alpha

I am trying and trying to install NEM on my mac. I have installed Java 8 and downloaded the file and unzipped, but I am stuck no step 2.  "What is unpack to cd to package"? and How do I  "set permissions"?

I copy and pasted the line "chmod +x nix.runNis.sh && chmod +x nix.runNcc.sh" in to terminal but it tells me "no such file or directory exists".

change to the dir where nix.runNis.sh and nix.runNcc.sh are.

The network seems to be down at the moment so your client won't be able to connect right now.

How do I change the dir where nix.runNis.sh and nix.runNcc.sh are?  what should I click on or type?

Hi jabo38, you use the change directory (cd) command: http://alvinalexander.com/unix/edu/examples/cd.shtml

for example
Code:
cd ~/Downloads/package

Except the market price is determined by who's willing to sell (supply) and who's willing to buy (demand), and anyone willing to sell their NEM can already.

I wouldn't speculate that all the dumpers have already done so. I'd say there are folks that haven't flipped their share for an AE token yet for two reasons:

1) Too lazy to fuss with NXT. Plenty of posts littered in here to that effect.
2) Belief that they'll get more on launch day than now, so they'll wait until launch day to dump. Why bother with a token now when you'd have to wait two weeks. If you sit tight, exchange on launch day, then dump you'd be ahead of the AE guys.

Hi everybody, stakeholder here.

I would like to innitiate some technical discussions.

a) If bitcoin is cryptocurrency 1.0, an introduction of purely POS in NXT is crypto 2.0, would you say introduction of POI in NEM is innovative enough to talk about crypto 3.0?

Let me address the issues in bitcoin that make some people hesitate about its future:

a) mining : environmental issues, centralization as it is becoming more and more expensive for the layman.

b) the problem of its 7-transaction/second limit

I understand that POS and POI overcome problem a)

How does NEM addreses problem b)?

I would love to see this list completed by the community and developers/NEMsters in general explaining how NEM addresses these problems.

Thanks!

I consider NEM to be a 2.0.  I think of NXT as the first real 2.0 and Ripple too.  But for NEM as a 2.0 it can do many things right that have caused problems with other 2.0's. (our genesis narrative is better as well as distribution)  NXT's POS hasn't proven if it will be viable in the long run yet, so POI is a very interesting experiment.  Both PoW and PoI are responses to Bitcoins flawed mining system, for instance the slow and inevitable move towards centralization and greater environmental concerns.

As far a transaction limits go, I can't answer the question well because I am not a developer, but I can say that since NEM is PoI it doesn't have many of the problems and that I am expecting it can have great transaction limits in the future as NEM's code is lighter and quicker.
