Very infeasible to solo mine unless you have a large farm. If you have a few pieces of small equipment that won't get a profit anyways, you could solo mine (its like a lottery) with them in hopes of hitting a block.

I think lotto mining is a proper way to describe it for most.   It just takes a LOT of hash to get a block.  It's possible to rent a lot of hash so.... yes some might do it.

For most like me being a hobby miner electricity makes it where I need to pool mine.  Solo mining just cant be done for most.

I give credit to the people that solo mine, it takes a little bit of guts to give up guaranteed BTC for a chance to get a lot of BTC.
