ok so I came across Bitcoin today
I need to know how to set it up on a Linux  system of mine

it's running on Fedora14_x64  
wiht a gtx 470 and Q9550

how do I set it up?

and  are there any   dependencies?

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)
