so far tried 5 different pools NONE of them I can connect to. I do factory reset and it just starts mining straight away someone please help
Are you changing anything in the network settings?  Is your Antminer in the IP range covered by your router?
In the pool configuration you don't need to enter 'http://...' only 'stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333' (example if you use Slush). Make sure that you don't enter any extra spaces and that all of your credentials (Pool worker and password) are correct.

Cheers

And make sure you set a DNS too. That was my mistake. I have mine on 8.8.8.8 and 4.2.2.2.

no but what DOESNT make sense is everything works fine once reset. its only when I input my own pool (uk1.ghash.io:3333) etc it dont work. i have tried btcguild ozcoin f2pool and few others. what am i missing?

okay look at my screenshot above with my pool setting   it is for btcguild  copy it into your miner and see if it mines for me.  if it mines for me and not for your btcguild account I would be shocked.  obvious if it does that you must have wrong info on your btcguild acct.  also if it does that do not keep mining for me.

make sure you have a password set 123 works.. also play around with your dns settings 8.8.8.8 does not work well for me   i use my routers address and it works

when you have changed the settings make sure you use the "save and apply" button (for each page you change)

when you are finished with changing settings then do a "system"   "reboot"   "perform reboot"

some of mine need this reboot sequence, some of them work straight away.

When ordering stuff from China, always try to use DHL is possible. DHL seems to always get their stuff through customs with no issues...unlike UPS..

This may be true for where your shipment enters the US.  While I haven't had any major issues with DHL recently, I've had a few shipments held up due to minor paperwork issues.  FedEX, on the other hand, is almost always a problem.  I get the package, but it comes with a extra invoice for handling customs inspections, which doesn't happen with UPS or DHL.

Anyway, it all depends.

Agreed!

Yep, Mine cleared customs here in Japan right away & was delivered less than 24hrs after landing it seems. Wish Bitmain had thought about the registered price tho, got stung US$40 for duty.

Have bought from Bitmain before and never seen a UPS message like this.
Am in the US, BTW.
The packages have left Anchorage probably headed for Louisville.

"07/25/2014   9:16 P.M.   A valid tax ID or deferment number is missing and is required for clearance. We are working to obtain this information. / The package is at the clearing agency awaiting final release."

WTF Over?

Anybody got a clue whose tax ID they want.
And what the heck is a "deferment number"?

Thanks in advance,
How many units did you order?  This message means that you have to supply importer paperwork - which is nothing more than filling out a PDF that UPS will provide you - and emailing it back to them.  I had this happen when my SP10 was shipped to me.  I called Fedex about it, and the girl I spoke with said it was because the value was over $2500.

So, just call UPS, fill out the paperwork and your miners will be released and sent to you.

This B3 order was for 10. Grin  Which, BTW, shipped exactly when Bitmain said it would.

Previous B2 order quantity was 2, flowed through American customs without a hitch (just all the S1's I previously bought 2 at a time).

Thanks for the confirmation that international orders like these get "flagged" due to stated dollar value.

Mental note to self, order in quantities of 2 and "stay under the radar".

Minimum order quantities also make sense because if customs flags a particular shipment of a multi-unit order then only 2 would be held up by customs.

Regarding UPS customer service, called them last night, and the twit I spoke to indicated that UPS would call me NLT Monday @ 10:00. So basically I'm on ignore till Monday till somebody in that department gets off their butt and calls. I'm gonna poke around their website and see if I can't find that form you spoke of.

Thanks for the get back. Thought it was something foolish.

10 hours later... and FINALLY WORKING!

it was just the dns. farrrrrrrrrrrrrr out. it literally took 10 seconds and now everything working.

thanks every1 i hope this will benefit others in the future.

what dns   worked for you?    8.8.8.8  or some other one?

on mine I just set the DNS to my ipv4 Gateway & its hashing away fine.  Should it actually be set as something else?

DNS on my 12 S1's and 2 S3's (soon to be 12 S3's) are set to 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4 & 10.0.0.1 (the gateway router) in that order. This gateway router has a static IPv4 IP, so the DNS entries for the gateway router are 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, respectively. So if the miner can't hit the first 2 DNS IP's it queries the router which then re-triies 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.

Most home networks use either the 192.168.0. or 192.168.1. nets. So your gateway router will likely be either 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 versus 10.0.0.1

8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 are Google's universal DNS server IP's and are good globally as they map to local DNS server(s) based on the IP geographical origin of the requesting IP.

So in America, 8.8.8.8 maps to an American homed Google DNS server, but in Russia 8.8.8.8 maps to a Russian homed DNS server.

For us, using 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4 makes our DNS "fire and forget". The only drawback is that Google now knows what DNS queries your gear is making. We obfuscate that information by running all that packet traffic through an encrypted VPN tunnel to one of our VPN servers located in Manassas, VA. So the only thing Google knows is that that server is resolving addresses for the respective mining pool intermingled with the DNS requests of thousands of other VPN users. Done this way it is impossible for Google to correlate DNS requests to a particular miner or the static IP the gateway router has.

Hope this helps.

I was able to get the discarded amount lowered as well as the load. I changed the queue to 0 from 4096 and added --scan-time 1 --expiry 1 to the cgminer file.

***IF YOU ARE NOT SURE WHAT THIS MEANS DO NOT TRY AS YOU WILL BRICK YOUR UNIT***

This is the first attempt, not sure if 0 is the optimal queue value for all pools but if you are a P2P miner you may want to try this out. I use a smaller pool and my numbers have gone up. This is along the same tune you could do for an S1 but a far cry from what we did in the GPU days. I have another unit running at a lower speed but have the same results.

SSH in then:
Code:
vim /etc/init.d/cgminer
--scan-time 1 --expiry 1

Find line 75 PARAMS...at the end change --queue 0 and add --scan-time 1 --expiry 1 before the quotation.

***DO NOT TRY THIS UNLESS YOU FULLY UNDERSTAND AS YOU WILL BRICK YOUR UNIT****

Hey Duce,

I'm browsing these threads while I wait on my 2 S3's (currently in Louisville.).
I've had an S1 for a couple months - works well but I notice it's discarded is pretty high.  (currenlty 21000 discarded and 31000 accepted.)
WIll your mod work for the S1 as well?  Couldn't find anything on the net about high discards on the S1.
In other words, adding  --queue 0 and add --scan-time 1 --expiry 1 be okay for S1?

Thanks!

Yes, this originally came from a mod for the S1 to tune P2P. The difference I did not address the shares as most pools now (if not all and except for P2P) use stratum.

I'm  just looking at this thread and bitmain site. And what i can see, quality went down the drain.i mean, quality in regards of delivery on time, process of any refunds, simple information to community.

Now it seems bitmain asking for btc in advance which is basically preorder.
With s1 there was no issues related to delivery of miners. Now im reading people waiting to get their s3 mining week or more!
I was hesitating to order B1,B2,B3 and it seems i didnt lost a lot. as all batches was delayed and now batch 4 and 5 is simple proeorder with no warranty that will be delivered in time frame given.

I dont know whats the issue is but even labeling boxes as miner means issues for end user.
I am fan of bitmain but at this stage whats the point of ordering when their are not in stock?

Price is nice but again waiting time for B5 will kill any profit if any. We looking at least 14 days to receive any miner. What if customs will delay the process? Whats safe quantity to order? I was thinking to order 10. Any ideas how this will look for customs?
