Got the refund this morning BEFORE the physical delivery of the B3's (American Customs and UPS are screwing me violently in the arse). Might (doubtful) show up tomorrow.
Ordering in shipments of 2 units each and using DHL, all of my Bitmain orders have made it from HK to VA, USA in 3 days. Even before they gave the form option, you could always specify DHL in the order comments. Orders of less than $1000 rarely get stopped by US customs. All of mine have been correctly labeled as BITCOIN ASIC COMPUTER for S1 and S3 shipments. Just something to consider for the future if you're a US customer. TLDR: Multiple small orders are less likely to get stopped by US customs. Use DHL. I have an order with 10 S3's, in batch 4 by UPS, coming to stateside. I had made the order due to time pressure, since then I have made dozens of orders with 2 S3's, for the exact reason given by 9600. I will give an update to what happens to my orders.

I'm also having the issue with the S3 hashrate dropping off. It generally starts around 435Gh but drops to around 390-400GHs. I'm at work now and I'm looking at my S3 on Slush's pool and I'm currently showing - Total average hash rate in last 60 minutes: 381070 Mhash/s Has anyone found a solution to this or had word from BitMain? Some units do and some don't, try a lower clock such a 212.5 as others have identified. I have one that runs steady at 218.5 and another that does not like the stock clock but runs fine at 212.5, and is reliable at that speed.

Ok first let me say I got my refund yesterday when the last units I purchased arrived at my home. For a bitcoin hardware company bitmain seems to be exceptional in sending equipment when they said they would ship it and at a fair price. Kudos.
Currently the hardware is performing as shown below as per the accepted shares at ELIGIUS: All are economode 218mhz and only one (ant3 has one x and one -)
all 7 have a 12 hour average of 411GH
ant1 12 Hours 440.52 Gh/s 4430848 3 Hours 446.52 Gh/s 1122816 22.5 Minutes 427.59 Gh/s 134400

set the low ones to 212.5 that would be number 3 and number 5

Why is everyone still beating this dead horse.? It's been pretty well established that "HEAT" is NOT the cause of the S3 problems, it poor design and possible sub-par components. We've already read that some users have put their S3's in front of A/C units and experienced no improvement. Now we have pages of people trying to put heatsinks on chips that dont need them. Lets face it , Bitmains first performance figures were "optimistic" and probably thrown out there in a hurry to get the machine to market, and after further testing they realized that they made a mistake. That's why they gave us money back, not enough but a good gesture, not many companies these days would do that. If we are into Batch 4 and possibly batch 5 with no hardware changes then I think you can safely assume that it is what it is and probably cannot be fixed. If there was a fix to be made, I think Bitmain would have done it . This is not a problem that firmware up grades will fix either. JMHO Bob

I tend to agree with you. I believe the stock setting should be 212.5 with 430gh and 328 watts on a gold psu. They now sell them at 218 with 441gh and 340 watts on a gold psu. >>>>>>>>> I feel this is not stock but a small overclock. The real mystery is the s-3's that do 480gh or 500gh and freq 237 or freq 250.

I got my batch 1 unit yesterday after some fun at customs and I guess I may have to underclock it as well. It's running at 218.5 and it doesn't like it and dips a lot even though the temps are pretty acceptable (usually between 39 and 42). It runs much cooler than my S1, but the S1 seems to run more stable with a lower reject %. One oddity is it always says its "best share" is 0 and that doesn't seem right but I'll have to wait until tonight to check it again since I don't have access to it while at the office.

I think its the variances in performance that is absolutely killing the engineer inside all of us.

My first two from B1 can stably hash at: 480GH/s at freq 237 510GH/s at freq 250 I'm using EVGA Supernova 750w and Corsair CX600 to power them. They reach to temperatures at around 45C.

All 4 of my Batch 3 units came stock 218.75 and happily sit at 442 after 12 hours, Is it worth bumping it upto 237 or 250 or not worth the hassle?

If you are lucky you might have gotten machines that can hash at ~500GH/s on 250, or ~480GH/s on 237. Worth a try.
