i think there is a bitcoin hater. making new names to make up wild stories, saying he found illegal stuff on the blockchain, saying he lost bitcoins. advertising scams.. all to make bitcoin look bad when he reports it later in a news article and uses his own sockpuppets as quotes.

I have seen this story before, it may be true. But it doesn't really mean anything.

He's just out of other bad news so he dug up ancient stories.

There was a linked child porn image put in years ago. The issue was already checked. Legally nobody is liable for having it in the blockchain.

Child porn images pass through ISPs daily and they have not been raided even though the bits existed on their routers.

Having them in memory or transferring them is considered different from distribution and storing long term... So it can be an issue in worst case.

Yeah, storing something on your hard drive is no way comparable to information packets passing through a router.

This is pretty old news though. But it's likely real as well.

The whole arbitrary data thing stored in the blockchain should not simply be dismissed as "FUD". People throw the term "FUD" around way to easily. Just because you don't like something doesn't make it "FUD".
