That's the effect of the FOMO (fear of missing out).

Sucks, huh.

This always happens whenever there is bull season, every bull season mining always become insanely Profitable so it's normal to see another rise in gpu value on the market, on ebay the RX470 and RX580 are still selling for 250$, months back it was 150$, even the 8gb VRAm variants

Now it's going to be a pain to build mining rigs now, this is why I keep saying that everything about crypto is perfect timing, when Ethereum was still at 600$ was a perfect spot to quickly buy graphic cards but many still have doubts if bullrun will affect altcoins too, I don't blame them, now if you aren't that richy rich you gotta wait until bears take over crypto market once again to buy GPUs at cheaper price
ETH hashrate is reaching new high every day. I am sure other coins is having similar high hash rates.. So definitely new GPUs are coming to the network.
Just that we can't purchase from a regular places like newegg/amazon but big miners can just get it from someplace we don't know

Looks like that soon i can sell my 3 years 1080ti more expensive than i bought it in 2017. And GPUs that i bought in 2020 can give me about 30-70% profit

If it continues like this, then maybe I can sell my RX 470 8GB cards for the same I bought them in 2017...

Fellow miners, get your thens and thans in order and help other forum readers understand what you are writing. Remember the grammar basics:  B larger THAN A (comparator operator). If something THEN ....

It's exactly the same situation as we had back in 2017. Demand rises sharply but supply cannot keep up, so the prices rise as well.

I saw how used RX 570-580 cards went for under 100eur a piece here for almost 2 years and now the prices have started to rise again.

This situation is not exactly the same as 2017 and 2014. Back then every GPU was inflated because almost all GPUs could mine ETH at the time. Even if they couldnt mine ETH they could mine ZEC like I did on my old 280X.

Right now even GPUs like the 4GB models of RX 470/570 are crazy inflated and its mostly due to covid. People are stuck at home and bored and nothing to do. The people who are buying these GPUs are not miners, since you cant mine with them, they are gamers.

Ive been slowly getting rid of my old RX 470 4GB since 2018. And prices now are 50% higher from a year ago AND you get them sold usually within a day or two instead of selling a couple every month.

Best time is to sell your 4GB right now.

If bitcoin and ETH price keeps surging a RX570 can cost up to 400$, the higher Ethereum goes the higher the mining reward, so sellers have no choice than to sell at high price, only 4gb VRAM graphics card are obsolete for mining right now
