Hi guys,

am mining with nicrehash on my 1080 Ti, do i need to make any changes to the CPU Core or Maximum power draw as i was told by some people to reduce the core -60%, is that necessary and why ?...

plz note i overclocked the GPU (stably) by around 900 MHz extra...

thanks,

Its necessary to reduce the amount of electricty consumption and to reduce heat.  If your mining ETH... it is a memory based Algo so the core is not needed as much to mine.  Hence why you can reduce core clock to save on power draw.

I used to have some 1080tis in 2017, as if I remember well, you can overclock memory the maximum you can, I think +900Mhz is good enough
Reduce Power Limit, you can use MSI Afterburner, and reduce to 60%, your card will be more efficient, less power, less heat, more profits for you

This is the link to the newest MSI Afterburner: https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/msi-afterburner-beta-download.html

It's not necessary to change Core clock, it doesn't make difference

Just remember to use a recent miner with tweaks enabled to have a better hashrate ( used to be ETH enlargement pill, but now miners already have included this tweak)

thanks a bunch !...

i reduced the power target to 70% only, and core by -200 MHz to 1500~ MHz, but the question is that fine when mining with NICEHASH ??!...

thanks,

Sure, why not?
I use Nicehash too
Let the app do all the benchmarks and mine the most profitable algo/coin at the moment, I think it's ETH and you should be able to do 49Mhs to 52Mhs with 1080ti

After the miner starts, reduce Power Limit until you see hashrate dropping, and you'll know how much you can squeeze with minimum wattage (probably 60%)

So I'm guessing you are mining with CPU as well? The reason why you are advice to drop the core is because of disturbance that will happen between the CPU and the GPU if you are mining at full power of the CPU, the GPU still need a processing power from the CPU to assists the GPU to reach it's highest potential

no CPU mining, just GPU, am mining also with nicehash, when it mines ETH i cant get past that 36-40 Mhashes on my 1080 Ti, i thought this card can do 50  ETH ! spite being liquid cooled and really running cool ! not sure why !...

To mine with GPU, you don't need strong CPU or 100% of cpu power, usually people mine with CPU + GPU, you only need 1 or 2 cores, and it's good enough

About you card, which miners you already tested?
Did you try Nicehash and let the program run all benchmarks?

But to help you, give more information, about how much overclock you reached on memory

If your CPU have 4 cores it's better to use 2 cores for mining if you also plan on mining with GPU in the motherboard, the rest unused 2 cores will process the mining with GPU and brings more stability in Hashrates, if you use all the 4 cores to mine the system will perform worse or even frozen and reboot
