The grue lurks in the darkest places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

You can find a long list of blocks highly possibly mined by Satoshi here. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=507458.0
However, Satoshi hasn't touched most of his bitcoin, except for the block reward for block #9. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=548508.0

There is actually not a lot to see.  Cry

It's a bigger mystery than the Lochness monster, why someone or a group, would leave BTC like that.

But I bet, once someone touch those coins, it will be HUGE news.  Grin

Satoshi's motivations were not to get rich of bitcoin (but perhaps he and others will get very rich in the future. ).  Another bitcoin developer, Garzik, has recently revealed a balance of around 300 bitcoin (if I'm not mistaken). Motivations differ per people.

Considering he was the only miner early on, it wouldn't be difficult to ascertain the addresses of his earliest mined coins. Just follow the blockchain. Smiley

That would be realy interesting to know what satoshi is thinking by keeping these coins, or what really is the truth about those coins.

Well, he was the only miner back in the day, keeping the network alive, and one of few later on. He said at one point that "lost coins" are sort of a gift to the rest of BTC holders (decreasing the supply). I think he intends for these coins to remain lost.

That doesnt add up.

I see the years of the amount of bitcoin, and it only adds up to 50 btc. So he just stopped after he hit 50 btc? lol.

I`m sure he has way more then that, and this address is just a early miner adapter.

I remember hearing that each block reward was sent to a different mining address. He didn't send all the coins to one address or something like that... Smiley

This is Satoshi's 50 btc from the genesis block, dated January 3rd, 2009. First Bitcoins generated: https://blockchain.info/address/1A1zP1eP5QGefi2DMPTfTL5SLmv7DivfNa?offset=900&filter=0

Lots of people added small amounts to it over the years.

He was not the only miner. A few other people were mining bitcoin even in the very first few days.

Yup, all his block rewards were unspent except for block 9. Smiley

Interesting, the genesis block reward is unspendable. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=119530.0
