There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Tafelpoot, some of your requests were fulfilled before writing that post: http://cognitivemining.com/charts went live last night Smiley

(note: some funds in the 1cogx address are owed to me still, therefore will not be included in any dividends. I will make a payment out of the address to my personal one correcting the misrepresentation issue within an hour.)
So you are saying that the 20 btc in the 4 1cog addresses + havelock deposit address does not belong to Cognitive... this makes the accounting very fuzzy...

The cognitivemining.com/charts page is nice, but it does not include the 3.2 btc in the havelock "hot wallet". Also missing is the litecoin equipment address, so it's not a full overview...
A link as independent proof to the eligius page would make the chart page more trustworthy. For the 1coggh address you can add a link to blockchain.info.

I'll ask for the following to get the full picture:
- link to the tx of 682 btc (CT payment). the remaining balance will be the start value of the fund.
- sum of all dividends as of that moment up to today(which will be suspiciously low due to 2 months of no mining / "bad luck")
- link to the tx of 5-10 btc (litecoin payment) to be subtracted from this total.

Last of all, I'd like to point to everybody who voted "yes" to put up scrypt mining equipment... 10 btc paid for only a measly 1.04 btc return in almost 3 months... what a waste.

FUD : it started mining the first time on 2014-02-06 and have been interrupted many times. I don't think it has been mining more than few days (possibly less than 3 days).

The problem is that Garrett is too busy or not good at setting up GPU mining rig. I would help if I wasn't living too far.
It's not that complicated but you need few days to setup properly and optimise.

Also, where is the GPU rig mining at ?

So we spent 10BTC for a rig that can produce at best 0.035BTC per day and is currently producing far less than that?

Any GPU rig get a return on investment in 2 or 3 months. That mean that if the GPU rig cost 10 BTC it should produce between 0.083 BTC and 0.111 BTC per day (unless Garrett bought the wrong hardware).
The Cognitive GPU rig is just not mining (or partially).

I'm glad people are bringing up all these things, and for a nice change, Garr and Cognitive-PR are being responsive.  This really is a pleasant change.  Please keep it up.  It's reasonable that there will be some confusion while the accounting practices are fixed - but the most important thing is the path forward.  Let's get those CT miners set up.  Let's get the 1cog* addresses accurate so they reflect mining and current balances.  Let's get the scrypt miners working.  Then, let's talk about the past (i.e. will the scrypt miners break even, missing divs, etc).

Thanks to both of you for all your work so far.

I agree, thank you for the smooth transition from Cog.F/2 to COG.

Is the chart on http://cognitivemining.com/charts/ not working, or are we really only getting <2TH/s right now?

EDIT: Heh, looks like some folks dumped their shares after COG.F1/2 was converted.  Good for us, cheap shares, whee!

Nope, I had around 230 shares, and someone hacked into my Havelock account, sold all of my shares, and then withdrew around 10 BTC.

I'm quite pissed off about this.

Yep, I had Google Authenticator enabled.  Which makes me wonder how secure Google Authenticator seeds are stored at havelock.

Also, I didn't have country based ip locking enabled, which was stupid, and means that they could have used Tor without any issue.

Another victim.   Angry   The sooner havelock gets their shit together and locks accounts to designated BCT withdrawal addresses the better. This could also include an option whereby share transfers to other accounts over a user designated quantity must be authorised by signing that address.

These simple features would put an end to this sort of crap.

post your story on the havelock thread name and shame.

This is very unfortunate and frustrating news. I hope that everyone checks to make sure that both 2-Factor Authentication and country based IP locking are enabled on their account. It would also be a good idea to ensure that your password is something you don't use for anything else.

Guybrush01, you have Cognitive's sympathy and support.

Lets all try and prevent something like this from happening again.

So we have been down to around 2ths for about 24hrs. I am assuming this is so you can move them, if this is the case why are we moving them when there time is most valuable and not in a few weeks losing a day now can be like losing a week in a month.

Here is an update on the current status of all of our hardware:

Thus far, 8 CoinTerra units have arrived. 7 more will have been shipped and on their way within 24 hours.
Of those 8 units, 3 are in WA (not hashing) and 5 are here in Bozeman.
Of those 5, 1 is only hashing at half capacity, and another isn't working at all.

We are working to get units fixed/hashing ASAP. This is our number one priority.

The new facility in Washington is perfect for all of our hashing needs, however unfortunately we can't set up hardware there for about a week. Until then, Garrett hopes to have the 3 CT units set up and hashing in an alternative location by tomorrow night.

The situation is not ideal, but we are making the best of it.

How many KH/s did we get for 10btc??

The sCrypt hardware included four 270x’s and two 7950’s, which add up to approximately 1.2 MH/s.

The sCrypt miners are not hashing right now because all of our power is being used by the CT hardware. As soon as the CT hardware is shipped to WA the sCrypt miners will resume hashing. It may take several months of hashing, but the hardware will likely pay for itself.

Last of all, I'd like to point to everybody who voted "yes" to put up scrypt mining equipment... 10 btc paid for only a measly 1.04 btc return in almost 3 months... what a waste.

Also, where is the GPU rig mining at ?

This is really strange. I don't think you can get Google Authenticator seeds so easily.
You must have a keyloger or it could be a man-in-the-middle attack.
Please provide us more information about what happened.

This is absolute insanity and mismanagement. Why would Garr send all the functioning units to WA to be set up next week?
If he would not have them set up until next week he should not have sent them to WA until monday *cough* after difficulty change *cough*

The none fuctional unit should have been sent also, stupid decisions like that are going to be costly int he long run.

You couldn't make this made-up drama, up.

If i was to become a shareholder, can someone explain to me how to view the CEO, as someone who actually knows how to blow his nose correctly?
Moreover, is someone going to actually have a word in Garr's ear, and politely explain that there are people watching, that have lived 100 more lives than him, and can spot a bullshiting amutuer a mile off.

Post Gox.....enough of these opaque operations, already.
