I've been following this thread for a while, but hadn't commented so far because I was unsure what to say without sounding like an arrogant ass

I still can't think of anything to say without sounding like an arrogant ass, so I guess I'll have to run the risk  

Mass market has been the goal for eMunie since day one, and its part of the reason why eMunie has taken so long because we weren't willing to compromise it in anyway.  Before I get to that, lets define what mass market is:

Mass market is the general consumer, period!  Its Joe public, your Grandma, your technically illiterate girlfriend, people who don't care about how money works or decentralization.  Its a $40 TRILLION per year market and rising fast each year (almost $1T per year at present).

Nothing in crypto at present, released or in development has the means to capture that market...other than eMunie and I'll tell you why.

Attracting the mass market can not be achieved by just one thing.  Features and tech alone won't do it, nor will marketing.  There are a number of critical requirements and ALL of them need to be met, otherwise you'll fail.

To achieve it the following is required (in no particular order):

Scalability - VISA alone processes on average 2000 transactions per second.  Add on Mastercard, Paypal, and all the consumer bank-bank transfers, the total volume is approaching 10,000 transactions per second.  Holiday periods are at least double.

Ease of use - Products for the consumer need to be 110% fool proof.  ANY action that requires them to have to think will result in them discarding and leaving.  That is not because they are stupid, but because they EXPECT products to be simple.

Incentives - Mass market doesn't care about liberalism, decentralization, and all that jazz which attracted us here in the first place.  The incentives to use it need to be different and relate to them as a consumer.

Women - 60-70% of consumer purchases are made by women.  Women make lots of small value purchases, men make fewer higher value purchases.  Women also influence men to make purchases they otherwise may not.  You need women!

Stability - The value of the currency HAS to be stable.  "Stable" is defined as no more than 2% +/- value movement in each 24 hours over the long term.

Integration - It should integrate with the existing infrastructure as much as possible without forfeiting control to that infrastructure.  That means both physical and virtual debit cards (read no middlemen) that operate with existing point of sale hardware, and it should be FAST!  Longer than 10 seconds and you'll annoy customer and merchant.  Easy online payment API's should also be available and be easy to use.

On/Off Ramps - Efficient and reliable on/off ramps for fiat are required, again without giving away control.  Buying crypto at the moment is difficult and time consuming, it needs to be simple and easy.

Advertising - A smart, maintained, targeted advertising strategy is needed, and it should use ALL forms, internet, TV, radio, billboards, magazines, newspapers, etc.  Unless you are Apple or some other large corp, you won't have the budget to advertise globally and succeed!  Start with small, promising territories first and build up.  Oh and don't forget that what works in one territory might not in another due to cultural differences.

Acceptance - Users will want to spend it, so you need to have at least some general consumer acceptance in place.  Internet service providers and online gambling will not cut it, consumers will want to buy real everyday products.

I could go on and on (an marketing document I'm currently working on is almost 70 pages, and that's just for internal use), but they are some of the primary requirements that are absolutely critical.  There are many more besides these which, while not deemed to be critical, still require careful forethought and action.

All of the above (and more) have had a lot of time spent on them to ensure that eMunie will truly stand a chance to penetrate the mass market.  Whether it be the technology, the marketing strategy, the infrastructure consideration, or the preparation of merchant relationships, all have been clearly defined and implemented into the project and the long term roll out plan.

If you're a crypto project and are targeting mass market, and haven't at least got clear direction on ALL of the above...you need to rethink everything, or save your time and effort!

Haven't been watching the thread lately, but since I was grumbling about the logo before I figured I'd weigh in again (I know it's not the immediate priority).

The new logo is good--clean, clear, etc. It does look a lot like Startcoin's, which isn't ideal, but that could be remedied by changing the colour slightly. I think we might also be overestimating the risk of confusion with Startcoin. The fact is, neither Startcoin nor Smartcoin is well-known outside a very small circle of folks in the crypto world, so we're not talking about these logos being plastered on the sides of buses any time soon. If either coin ever does get to that stage, the other one will have been long forgotten anyway. At this point, it's probably more important to have a clean, professional looking logo that makes people think hey, these guys have their shit together.

The only thing I don't like about the new logo is that the S in the circle is not positioned logically relative to the main text. You'd either expect the respective baselines to line up, or you'd expect the S in the circle to be centered relative to the centerline of the main text. Currently the circle is shifted up slightly relative to the other text in a way that is a little annoying.

Anyway, my two cents. Keep up the good work, and thanks.

1. Smart nailed the rebrand.  Excellent redesign.  New website too!
2. Price is stable
3. Would be nice to have another exchange before end of Q2, working on it.  But SMC survived cryptsy and found a spot on Yo, so well done, few coins transitioned so well.
4. Fundamentals ... maybe slacked some ... looking more too end of Q3 to see where SMC stands on network fundamentals
5. Community.  Slowly growing.  SMC is more about just build it and they'll come.
6. FINTECH ... when crypto 2.0  figures out what they are then SMC will be there to help investors ... still a bonanza and high risk ... watching and waiting for the dust to settle.

Any other suggestions for Roadmap 2016?

Still the 1st WEEK of year 2016.

So I would like to state on the record this years direction, informally, more organized road map to come mid-quarter.

1.  Rebrand.  Nice project, and great work thus far.  But no rush to push it out the door.  There is plenty of time to mull it over.  There are 3 different logos, and all of them are perhaps possible for sub-divisions of SMART brands.  But ultimately "THE LOGO" will be found.  First impressions, well we get the chance to represent our image so best to make sure we nail it.  So keep the rebrand thread active.  If I can pull SMC from Cryptsy can add more towards bounties.

2.  Price.  This is the main goal of 2016.  And look at the 2 year chart.  Classic and perfect.  Just maintain the price channel and if you feel rich push it up, we'll see what happens, but mind the lower supports because that's where they are at SMC is a longer mine schedule but with certainty 2017 means shifting to a new level, 2016 is just testing the waters and holding already claimed terra firma.

3.  Exchanges.  We need more.  But reliable exchange partners are not clear and present.  So Q2 is best for that kind of project.  In the meantime getting listed on Cryptopia is easy, just get some DOTs and it can be done.  After that SMC can step it up another level.

4.  Standards ... nodes, pools, hash rates.  Websites are great.  If help is needed donations in SMC?  Make sure to keep SMC listed on other key websites ... like coinwarz.

5.  Community.  My main focus.  Getting intelligent participants to join.  And a small cap coin, with a solid network can do big things.  The goal is to have a powerhouse of SMART people, and that corresponds with solid long term capital gains.  So SMC knows it's current place on the market capital rankings, but will create a solid platform for wise investors to gather and mutually profit.

Cryptopia Listing Policy

    Coins may only be submitted for review by an active developer of the coin.
    The coin's network must be able to sustain a network of at least 4 active nodes.
    The coin must be able to fully sync on its own from the network without the use of 3rd party bootstraps of the blockchain.
    We must be able to get the coin to compile locally from source from a public source repository, preferably github.
    An active member of the coin team should give us optimally 30 days advance notice via support ticket of upcoming mandatory coin updates such as forks.
    We do not list ICO or IPO coins.
    Premines will be evaluated and justified on a case by case basis, we reserve the right to reject any premined coin.
    An active dev of the team should ideally be available to assist with issues with the coin's network outside of Cryptopia's control.
    A coin must be able to maintain a network sufficient enough to consistently process blocks at the average target time.
   The coin must have an up to date forum thread on the Cryptopia Forums maintained by an active member of the coin's team.
    Any coin violating any of these requirements for longer than a period of 30 days may be subject to delisting.
    Voting is final, votes will not be refunded, please ensure you vote for coins that meet all of the listed requirements.
    As each coin is reviewed on a case by case basis there is no guaranteed ETA on how long the review process will take. If you do not want to wait, provided your coin meets all requirements for listing you may pay the listing fee of 5,000,000 DOT upfront to get listed immediately.
    The voting page is a way for the community of a coin to crowdfund the listing fee of their coin, there are no rounds, votes do not expire, every coin that reaches 5,000,000 DOT votes will be listed provided the coin meets all of the listed requirements.
    Any coin rejected or delisted can start the listing process over provided it now meets the requirements for listing.

If you would like to submit a coin to the vote you must raise a support ticket and be able to verify that you are an active dev for the coin.

Yes it is.  SMC is about finding the smartest projects to invest your time and your money into.  Think of it as crowd funded intel.

That means distributed R&D.

And if you read the thread you will see that the SMC dev is very active, and I would suggest one of the most consistent/committed devs that I've witnessed in this crazy industry.

Since such a thing can't seem to be done in a trustless manner (as you allude to with talking about adding a reputation system) and could lead to a full monopolization, forced standards and extortion type thing, then complete hijacking of bitcoin and trying to convert it into a more physical based than digital currency, I tried to look up your background and it seemed like constant pictures of liberal, hippy type people walking around in jungles (whether fake or manufactured background, who cares).
Anyway, you obviously spent a A LOT of effort in coming up with all this so far, which means it's obviously not a one man, non-profit operation and there's an actual motive behind this, probably by a larger group.  So the question is, what exactly is it that you hope to accomplish with this, since while, yes, you would raise TPS by doing such a thing, you would inherently, drastically weaken Bitcoin security at the same time if such a thing was massively adopted, to the point where if this became "a thing", it would lead to the eventual derailment of the blockchain in general, and converted entirely into a centrally issued physical currency.  A trojan horse in other words.
There is also the fact that this idea is completely irrelevent since gold and silver coins already exist and would be far superior for the task, so I can't really view your ideas as anything but a trojan horse to try and weaken or derail Bitcoin.  Using Bitcoin is best for moving value frictionlessly in the digital world, and gold and silver for the physical world (except for it's enormous granularity issues that would likely just end up with you using Bitcoin instead for both)
