They are distracting and ridiculous., but telling people what to do is annoying as well.

Introducing constraints to the economy only serves to limit what can be economical.

I admit that on slower, garbage computers, an animated GIF is quite a problem.

It doesn't serve much of a purpose on a forum intended for research and discussion either.

But as long as avatar images are allowed, I think animated GIFs should be allowed.

If you would like to remove animated GIFs from your view only though,

There are plenty of ways for you to block the images yourself, why should it be forced on everyone?
