Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Nope

The current Litecoin GPU miner only supports certain ATI cards

Do you know if there is a possibility for the Litecoin GPU miner to implement Nvidia GPUs?

You can mine Litecoins on Nvidia GPU's.
Its always been possible with Reaper.
This configuration will mine at +50KH/s (GTX 460)

host litecoinpool.org
port 9332
user user
pass password

protocol litecoin

worksize 128
aggression 13
threads_per_gpu 1
sharethreads 1
lookup_gap 2
gpu_thread_concurrency 4096

I hope you know that one of the basic concepts of litecoin was to try and prevent GPU domination of the mining activity.  Your gpu will not perform the same as it does on BTC.

And do you know that despite that litecoin runs VERY WELL on ATI GPU? Much much much faster than on CPU

As for btc vs ltc, everything depend from the price and the difficulty of them. But cpu mining litecoin? Fail.

Seems like Tyler does not know much about Litecoin.
Mining Litecoins on ATI cards is more profitable than mining BTC at the moment.
The price has gone up, difficulty is still very low.
And one of the basic concepts of litecoin was to try and prevent GPU domination of the mining activity?
Say that to Litecoin developers who GPU mined from the very first day. They will just laugh at you.

cudaminer is the mining utility best suited to the nVidia cards. Then also there's a miner specifically for protoshares for cuda, and possibly a couple of other specialist ones.

However, what I'm pointing my stray and slow hash towards now is dogecoin. I know, I know, faddy as hell, but the block rewards are reducing and I think there's going to be some surge of interest when that NASCAR car they sponsored runs. I'm saying it's gonna top 500 satoshis each, but how far over the top of that is just plain guessing.

Anyway, litecoin mining is only just hovering above break even on the electricity for the far more productive ATI cards, so you might want to take more of a gamble on something else.
