Hi guys,

Is there a link between stake weight and difficulty ?

Hello everyone  Cheesy
a few days i have plan to buy Raspberry Pi B+ for run HyperStake wallet
anyone can tell me how to setup HYP wallet for Raspberry ,I never use Raspberry  Huh
show me step by step please. Wink

Thanks so much.

think its posted a few pages back maybe it could be added to ann or something.

If someone wants so build a staking device with a Raspberry Pi, here's a little step-by-step tutorial:

1) Install Raspbian system with NOOBS : http://www.raspberrypi.org/help/noobs-setup/

2) Boot the system and login: Default Login is:  USER: pi ; Password: raspberry

3) On first boot you will be promted to a configuration, where you can change the PI's name on the network and the password for the Pi user.

4) If you use remote desktop, you don't need to connect nothing to the Pi, exept LAN-Cable and power supply. If you don't want a remote desktop, type "startx" to the console and wait for the GUI to load. And proceed wird step 7.

5) Type "sudo apt-get install xrdp" and enter to install the remote desktop client an restart.

6) Now open the "Remote desktop connection" in Windows (It's a integrated system tool) and login with the pi's network alias, User:pi and your password.

7) Now you should see the GUI. Open a terminal and type "sudo apt-get update" and then "sudo apt-get upgrade". This should take some time

8 ) Now type  "sudo apt-get install qt4-dev-tools libboost-dev libboost-thread-dev libboost-program-options-dev libboost-filesystem-dev libboost-system-dev libdb++-dev libminiupnpc-dev libssl-dev" and enter

10) Type "sudo git clone https://github.com/presstab/HyperStake

11) now "sudo cd Hyperstake"

12) now "sudo qmake"
13) open the Makefile with your text editor and remove -msse2 from the Makefile 2 times.
14) and "sudo make" , this step take very long (1-2 hours)

Use the BOOTSTRAP File from the Ann even with the bootstrap it will take a VERY long time to sync dont sit and w8 for it.

This works with wheezy as wel.

this is the Vrc Rpi guide i changed the required fields , if i missed some just change vrc to Hyperstake and u should be fine.

so the most you can get from staking is 1000 HYP every 30 days?? even if your pc is on and the wallets open all the time , 24/7?

1000 HYP per block. If you have several block, more HYP. But it is not a good idea to split a block if you have less than 2000 HYP (two times 1000). On the opposite, always split a block of 8000 (two times 4000).

question to anyone, if i have say 10k HYP how much should i expect a month? a 30 day period

Assuming 3333 HYP per block.
Assuming such a block stakes at 10 days (optimistic)
You would have 9 rewards (3 block time 3 staking periods) of approximately 600 HYP each (I don't have my formula at hand - by the way, it was presstab's formula, kudos to him)

Update: did read the whole thread, now with presstab's formula
7.5 / 365 * DAYS * BLOCKSIZE
7.5 / 365 * 10 * 3333
~684

Time 3 blocks time 3 staking period = ~6156

Thus, 10k HYP = 6156 HYP in one month.

HYP like a champ. #2 on ALL markets

I thought I'd just share my latest experience with HYP - so that you don't make the same mistake as I just did!

Up until now, everything's gone perfect, as far as I'm concerned, with MY management of my wallet.
I'm a stickler for making sure that as soon as my blocks stake, I optimise them (merge together) to make new blocks of anywhere between 2,500 and 4,000 HYP.

Anyone who's seen my earlier postings, will also remember I used 100GBP as a "test" to see the benefits of a HyperBank - buying 15,793 HYP, placing it in a separate address, in blocks of approx 2,500 HYP each, and leaving it to stake.

Well, today I went to "optimise" my latest staked blocks, and unwittingly, I also managed to include ALL 15,793 HYP alongside my approx 3,000 HYP I was trying to merge together, into one massive 19,000 HYP block!!!

"Annoyed as hell" would be a polite way of putting it. I'd screwed up my own experiment, and this is after 8 days - so they were "this close" to starting to stake!!!!!!

So, where did I go wrong? And what can be done to stop it happening to other people?

My issue (and I take the blame all on my own) was that I'd gone into Coin Control, and earlier in the day I'd been on "Tree Mode" and I'd left ticked the experiment address with the 15,793 HYP inside.
Consequently, when I then went into List Mode, and selected 2 newly minted blocks to merge together, it added the entire lot together, resulting in the massive 19,000 HYP Block.

Yes, the figures added up right on the screen showing this - it's just that I didn't take in what I was reading - afterall, I'd merged blocks together many many times before - why would this be different, right?..... Wrong!

So, I've lost staking on all 15,793 HYP for 8 days worth. It won't kill me - it sure as hell made me mad with myself, but it got me thinking.....

Presstab - I can see no obvious reason why anyone would want to send themselves blocks of HYP, over, lets say, 5,000 HYP. Is there any way that a precaution can be implemented into the wallet which, when "accidentally" sending such a stupid amount of HYP to your "own" addresses, the wallet can Red Flag this, making you think twice about what you're doing?Huh

On another note, in Coin Control, if you list by "Potential Stake" and have a reward of 1,000 HYP - the maximum reward, this will not show up at the top of the list - it will show in the 100's, so pretty much near the bottom (it sees 100.1 as a higher reward than 1000.0) - a small thing, but something you might easily update in the next wallet Smiley

anyone can help me with the .dat file issue?
Join ##hyperstake, lot of people willing to help here.

If someone wants so build a staking device with a Raspberry Pi, here's a little step-by-step tutorial:
Could you update the Raspberry tutorial? Thank you.

So, I've lost staking on all 15,793 HYP for 8 days worth. It won't kill me - it sure as hell made me mad with myself, but it got me thinking.....
Welcome to the club of "mistakers" (wordplay inside). I lost 70k that way last week (different reason) and probably 5k earlier (same reason).

We could open a Mistaker Hall of Fame. I know it happened to waxo too (50k, right?)
So, if experienced HYPsters make this mistake, you can be sure a lot of less-experienced users did or will, A warning after 5k attempt of payment to yourself looks good.
"Are you sure you want to pay XXX HYP to yourself? Maximum useful block size is below 5k. All the staking on this HYP will be reset - don't become a mistaker!"

Also, I'd like to remind you of the OTC thread. Right now, Kushed is willing to pay 3750 sat for a large bag of HP.

Please, if Alex Green says he wants some HYP, kindly refuse and report to us, We don't want to become completely the new Doge Smiley

Edit: congratulations, Sakura!

Yes, but eventually we will have so much HYP staking that the network will have so much weight, even a block of 5000 HYP will on average hit the 30 day limit.  At that stage, it will be optimal to have blocks larger than 5000 so that they will stake faster.  This is also the stage at which the effective PoS interest will steadily begin falling.

Exactly what I was thinking! It's been pointed out that in the future we may want to set a higher block size when the difficulty is higher - this isn't stopping you doing that, it's just a warning that you're being a "mistaker" Smiley

I might be able to add an option to warn yourself of a transaction size of your choice. I will look into this and see if it isn't too complicated.

I saw the weight yesterday at 6.3 million (or billion)? When do you think that it will become more effective to put hyp into say 10k blocks?

You have to be careful because network weight is not the same as the sum of all weight being staked. It is really just the difficulty times a large number. Stupid right?  Well this is really the only known way to calculate something close to a network weight. Might need some tweeking over time.

I am guessing still some time before 10k blocks. we only have around diff of 1 right now.

That's true, the diff is around one. Should I be paying more attention to weight or difficulty? If difficulty, what would allow you to remain competitive for now? I currently have the 15 250 blocks(staking), one 4k block, and a 2.3k block(these two are not of mature age yet). Have started my own POS portfolio (probably mainly HYP) and at 10k HYP now Smiley

On a side note,
Anyone notice the movement of HYP on CMC? In the lower 40's now, with a $5000 volume and up 20% just today... Anyone know why?

also as far as the .dat file for my backup wallet, i see now %appdata% anywhere on my c drive, and yes im running the wallet right now im running windows 8,any thoughts?

open folder options. Click on the "view" tab and check "view hidden and system files"

Then, it's under C:/users/username/appdata/roaming/hyperstake.

That's also where you want your configuration file if you're using one. (which I recommend, as you can set up RPC passwords, known good nodes and such).

Larger than 5000 means no one will hit the maximum reward. Now add in the mix the max generation and this becomes very interesting.

Dunno, waxo is pretty good at detecting this (but not necessarily at explaining it - who can, really - maybe the XUSD market announcement of yesterday is the reason; but in the past, price rises were decorrelated from announcements.

Speaking of market cap, I analysed the market cap difference between all coins and it immediately higher one, from 100 to HyperStake. Conclusion: the marketcap difference is never more than a dozen thousand dollars. The first one to have more than a dozen thousands dollars of difference is... HyperStake to Unobtanium!

In other words, meaningful market cap differences only start now.

Oh boy, time for the uphill battle. If HYP reaches 5 cents, I think that would be a huge milestone. Realistically, I don't see it going any higer than that with the contiuing increasing coin supply and downward pressure. Does anyone think otherwise?
