Well I think that's not complete info at all. At first (in my case) I run the headless (non-gui) wallet. So there's no Option-Menu ;-)
And second it's not completly that walletpassphrase is "unsecure" at all. In fact you can (and must) not only limit time it is running unlocked, but you can also additionally add "true" parameter to use it for mint (and also staking?) only.

This is said by CLI/RPC info:
Code:
walletpassphrase <passphrase> <timeout> [mintonly]

Well I'm not completly shure if this is a misinfo/typo for "mintonly". Does this include staking? How else should I be able to activate this on headless/non-gui version? I've also added "staking=1" to my conf-file.

But I should also have said I'm still waiting for rewards on my 4221.000 HYP-Coins deposit for testing having had not even a satoshi generated yet Sad

My apologies, I assumed you were running QT. Yes, you're correct, that is how to set it for minting via command line. and yes, mintonly is the correct parameter.

Running that way, assuming your coins have reached the maturity date, it's just a matter of time. Eventually, they will stake. The more you have in a single transaction, the faster it will work. 4221 is actually a really small amount on the current network. I don't know how long that would take, but I suspect rather a long time. Over a year ago, the suggested minimum was 20K, and that was gonna work (then) about a week after eligibility.

If staking is your primary goal, I would highly suggest acquiring more coin. I've been out of the loop too long to even suggest a number. I'm currently building back up to where I think it will work out, and I'm aiming for a minimum of 100K coins.

Thanks for your help @Biomech. Well that at least 20-100k of coins are required indicates that this is only profitable as being an "early bird" buying coins at lowest price as possible. I've tried the same on CoinonatX and staking is working there a lot better. I think the reason is that CoinonatX is very young compared to Hyperstake or Reddcoin I've been trying staking without very much luck as investing too late I think.

My apologies, I assumed you were running QT.

So was I.  mintonly can change it to that... but I believe you are still limited to the timeout.

Well, two answers to that come to mind Cheesy

First off, for small amounts, you might store it on BTCpop. that's not an endorsement, as I've not tried it, but they stake the coins regularly, and distribute to all holders. Second one is that you might want to rethink your time preference. It has a very fast staking period when you get sufficient coins, so it can make a pretty steady profit, but it's definitely a long game. What I'm doing is trading it. Not staking and selling, but trading. Buy on the dips, sell on the rise, in layers, and keep a bit with each profit. That builds up a staking stock over a longer period of time. Also, if the market is down for a time, just pull the bulk of your coins to a staking wallet. In time, you'll build up rather a lot. Then, keep doing that because it's profitable, but you'll get to a point where you're only trading on your stakes. While still accumulating. If this strategy looks a lot like a mutual fund, it's because it's the same model.

The short game is hard. Yes, it can make you rich, but it can also make you broke. Diversify. HYP is just one vehicle. Don't limit yourself, even though it's a good one.

In late 2016, I bailed out of crypto. Most of my holdings were liquidated. I'll not go into the reasons, as they're personal, probably boring if you're not living it, and regrettable. I'm rebuilding right now with the above strategy, and I'm doing well. No Lambos in my near future, but I'm not doing badly at all Cheesy

Thanks for sharing your detailed advise with me Smiley

I'm still looking for the right way to do. I know staking is not the "getting rhich in two weeks" plan. I also think about it as long-term-plan. But of course this doesn't make sense if I'll need much larger invests at a time the price for the given coin is still rised too much to get a valuable amount for staking or a masternode. And by the way... I'm already spreeding into multiple upcoming altcoins. HYP is not the only one ;-)

I was already trading some time ago. But I think this only makes sense again automating as much as possible. I already know that the strategy you mention can be very profitable. But doing this from scratch and by hand-work is very hard business without automating such things. I didn't find a suiteable "tool" for automating such things yet especially being able to trade altcoin without waiting for software updates (that may take too long to get in the trades quickly).

Hi, I want to get my son into Crypto and PoS with HyperCoin. We only have a Mac to work with atm, need some noob guidance on how to sync it with the Bootstrap.

1) The app is in the "Applications" folder. Is this the correct place to run it? If so where to I put the Bootstrap file, also in this folder?

2) Or should I create a specific folder where both files are located?

3) This is the cmd I need to run -> cd ~/Documents/Cryptos/HyperStake && ./HyperStake-qt -loadblock=bootstrap.dat

If I use a folder like this with the application file and the bootstrap i keep getting a "No such file or directory" msg.

Appreciate any help!

Your HyperStake-qt file should be in this path:

 /Applications/HyperStake.app/Contents/MacOS

And the working directory (with the blockchain and wallet file) can be found here after the first launch:

 ~/Library/Application Support/HyperStake

That's the place where you put the bootstrap file (don't forget to delete all blockchain related files as it is described in the instruction in the OP).

The final command is:

cd /Applications/HyperStake.app/Contents/MacOS && sudo ./HyperStake-qt -loadblock=bootstrap.dat

Hi HYP community. Just downloaded the wallet for it and is now syncing using the bootstrap that you have in your OP. I just wanted to check how many HYP per block is needed to maximize the 1000-stake reward for this coin? Do we have any calculator for this? Any help with my question is much appreciated. Thanks.  Wink

there is a built-in calculator on the wallet. However those are only estimates because there are many of there factors involved. Everyone has their own secret set-up  which is what make it such a fun community / wallet. However, most people are seeing good results using 18k blocks with 1 million+ coins. Obviously the more coins you have the more variety of strategies you can implement.

Since you only have 1 block, it means you only get 1 chance to win a stake each time. I'd say, split that into 2 block blocks, but it has already started to age, so I'd just leave it alone as it could stake at any time. Once it stakes I'd suggest splitting the blocks.

However to give it a fair shot, most people are having a good experience with 100k - 1million+ HYP and splitting their coins. The more coins there are, the more frequent the stakes.
