Please note we will be doing some work on the banksycoin.co.uk website over the next 48 hours so we may go offline temporarily or there may be some technical difficulties with regards to downloading new wallets etc.

I don't know why pool owners didn't set their pools yet - a mistake by them perhaps.

My wallet is synchronizing very well ...

ps. I never did anything to the .conf file. I didn't add any nodes etc.

So I don't know why your wallet is not synchronizing ...

I suggest:
1.Make wallet backup.
2.Delete all BSYwallet data from roaming folder
3.Download latest version of the BSY wallet
4.Run it and redownload the blockchain.

5. check if the ports for banksycoin wallet are not blocked by your firewall.

i had to unblock it manually in my firewall by defining a new rule allowing the banksycoin-qt to connect and then it worked fine.

didn't really have a problem till 2 days ago and sync didn't start on loading wallet so just waiting for website to get new wallet and do it all over.

Hey, I still like Banksycoin and I want to start a discussion about the selling of art with Banksycoin, now that the site is new and shiny

I think right now there is a problem that sellers should assume that 1 BSY is worth 0.03 USD, when it's actually worth 0.0002 - 0.0003. I think this diminishes the incentive for artists. I'm not good at art myself, but let's assume I was

If I wanted to sell a painting of mine and I'd like to sell it for 80 USD + 20 USD shipping. (material expenses 40 USD) Using 0.03 quote I would charge 3333 BSY for the painting including shipping.

Current exchange rate at bittrex:

Highest buy order: 0.00000031 BTC.
3333 x 0.00000031 BTC = 0.00103323 BTC = ~ 0.5 USD

So in the end I can't cover material costs or the real world shipping price. Even if I had no material expenses at all I'd lose almost 20 bucks for shipping. One could argue that BSY will be worth a lot more in the future, but if my only goal was to make money, I would then buy 150k Banksycoin for 40 bucks.

What do you think? Am I missing something? With the 0.03 USD rule artists would basically give their stuff away for free right now.

You would have to figure cost at the current exchange rate.  I sold a piece of art for 100K BSY, by time I exchanged it to BTC I lost half.

by the way i tested the new website, registered and made a test posting, so it is all wordpress based i see.

Yes we have decided we will let sellers choose there own rates or it will be unfair to artists..

i am interested to use it myself to sell artwork.

auctions would be another cool way to sell art.

maybe bidcoind who now accept banksycoin can be the middleman for live auctions - one could even arrange live events!

regarding galleries and bitcoin (or altcoins)
here is another examples how some artists chose to sell their art for crypto (bitcoin).
maybe there is something we could learn from this approach?

btw, should you live in austria and use the banksycoin platform to sell art and have to ship your artwork you could even hire kunsttrans a professional art shipping company who officially accept bitcoin!
