When is the next significant development update (code, screenshots and/or whitepaper/proof-of-concept or something else) expected to come out?

I think James our dev is trying to keep a lid on things.  He doesn't want the price to fly up and get out of control.

He is working on a ton of shit.  The guy has a serious track record so I wouldn't be worried.

The BTCD devs just finished a strategy session

We decided that instead of all this stuff happening behind the scenes, we will bring it out into the open

That means you will see dev chat about upcoming tech. So you can follow along as things are happening and contribute where you can. Not exactly a roadmap and certainly not a whitepaper, but it is what it is, the current state of the dev process.

If we are struggling with some bugs, you will see that if we happen to have made a successful MGW multisig deposit you will see that:

isinternal.0 Confirmed deposit.1 BTCD bYjsXxENs4u7raX3EPyrgqPy46MUrq4k8h dbe105ed7106dc0514e1844be69587cd52e057cda75e2edadc22ed1aadf7039c.vout1 1.00000000 -> NXT.8989816935121514892

Yes, I have gotten MGW to recognize a BTCD multisig deposit, I believe this is the first ever such deposit for BTCD. Now I work on getting the withdraw to work and then next week we will get some stuff to test

James
And that multisig deposit just generated an asset transfer!

Sorry it took so long, we now have 75% of MGW functionality for BTCD working as the withdraw side is just an ordinary asset transfer back, so now I need to get the multisig withdraw done.

Then I can finish the InstantDEX release

what is this ?
people keep asking for regular progress reports, so that is a successful BTCD deposit into MGW and subsequent asset transfer
We can do atomic exchanges of assets, this is critical for safe trading.
I do have another trick up my sleeve for direct peer to peer trading, but I will let the others tell you about that.

Well today I deleted a wallet with almost all of my coins in, having just sent them locally from bittrex.  No I didn't have a backup (I had only just downloaded the wallet), no it isn't in my recycle bin, yes it was a lot of coins.  So there are now even less available!

I managed to snag a few k more around 37k-38k satoshis which I think is still a ridiculously low price, so hopefully I'll make back my losses.

On another note, this is one of the strangest coin launches I've experienced, with no major pump and dump, an incredibly small sell book, and PoW phase already over.  The dev team is looking good, and if the promised features arrive, a 10-20 times price increase within weeks/months seems inevitable, if not more.  Interesting times!

try some backup softwares , i think it could work

LOL yeah I know.  I'm certainly not new to this game.   I have a machine that I use only for coin storage (mostly offline).  I deleted an old coin folder that I no longer use and must have selected more than one folder by mistake.  poof, gone.  I had only just closed the wallet to encrypt it otherwise the delete would have failed.  oh well.

Download Recuva. It's free and it can do a deep scan. Works like a charm and easy to use. I recommend it all the time. Good luck to you!

Call to action!

Alright everybody, James is making real progress and will continue to do so on the technical advancement of BTCD.

I would like to ask the communities support in ramping up marketing activities.

We need people to help spread the word.  Get on social media, re-tweet our messages.  Let crypto oriented news outlets know about our progress.

Some basic things that we should probably think about doing:

-contact more media outlets (we need to get the word out about our developments)

-create a more professional looking website (e.g. Blackoin's site is a nice example)

-improve the log

-flashy GUI for the wallet

Whatever else you guys can think of!

I'm not worried about the current price, smart money is getting in on the ground floor and with what we have planned, BTCD will stand apart from all other coins.

Let's get the discussion started now!

All this stuff boils down to 1's and 0's in the right place.
For example to do a multisig transaction, you need to pass in the hexcodes that get interpreted by the Forth like language built into the coin. The problem is that BTCD doesnt give you the hexcodes, but rather the assembly code. This is actually not so bad an idea as bitcoin gives both and it really chews up a lot of extra space. The downside is that I have to convert from assembler to hex, so I just did a hardcoded "assembler" that only does this one thing for the one type of tx that I need. I can always add support for more if required, but for now I want to see a withdraw work!

Code:
int32_t add_opcode(char *hex,int32_t offset,int32_t opcode)
{
    hex[offset + 0] = hexbyte((opcode >> 4) & 0xf);
    hex[offset + 1] = hexbyte(opcode & 0xf);
    return(offset+2);
}

int32_t convert_to_bitcoinhex(char *scriptasm)
{
#define OP_HASH160_OPCODE 0xa9
#define OP_PUSHDATA1 0x4c
#define OP_EQUAL_OPCODE 0x87
    //"asm" : "OP_HASH160 db7f9942da71fd7a28f4a4b2e8c51347240b9e2d OP_EQUAL",
    char *hex;
    int32_t middlelen,offset,len,OP_HASH160_len,OP_EQUAL_len;
    len = (int32_t)strlen(scriptasm);
    // worlds most silly assembler!
    OP_HASH160_len = strlen("OP_HASH160");
    OP_EQUAL_len = strlen("OP_EQUAL");
    if ( strncmp(scriptasm,"OP_HASH160",OP_HASH160_len) == 0 && strncmp(scriptasm+len-OP_EQUAL_len,"OP_EQUAL",OP_EQUAL_len) == 0 )
    {
        hex = calloc(1,len+1);
        offset = 0;
        offset = add_opcode(hex,offset,OP_HASH160_OPCODE);
        offset = add_opcode(hex,offset,OP_PUSHDATA1);
        middlelen = len - OP_HASH160_len - OP_EQUAL_len - 2;
        offset = add_opcode(hex,offset,middlelen/2);
        memcpy(hex+6,scriptasm+OP_HASH160_len+1,middlelen);
        hex[6+middlelen] = hexbyte((OP_EQUAL_OPCODE >> 4) & 0xf);
        hex[6+middlelen+1] = hexbyte(OP_EQUAL_OPCODE & 0xf);
        hex[6+middlelen+2] = 0;
        printf("(%s) -> (%s)\n",scriptasm,hex);
        strcpy(scriptasm,hex);
        free(hex);
        return((int32_t)(2+middlelen+2));
    }
    else
    {
       // printf("cant assembly anything but OP_HASH160 + <key> + OP_EQUAL (%s)\n",scriptasm);
    }
    return(-1);
}

So unfortunately all the C code is probably incomprehensible to most, but all it does is:
(OP_HASH160 db7f9942da71fd7a28f4a4b2e8c51347240b9e2d OP_EQUAL) -> (a94c14db7f9942da71fd7a28f4a4b2e8c51347240b9e2d87)

And with this conversion, I am ready to see if the withdraw tx gets the proper handling. As expected the part of asset xfer back to MGW worked fine, so once I can get the rawbytes right, we could see a full loop of BTCD -> asset -> BTCD

Thanks ICT,

Keep us posted on any developments or if you need anything.

Any initial ideas on how you think the site should look?  Do you have any favorite coin sites you would like to model our site after?

@James  Is there anything in particular our website should include that might fit in with our future tech developments?
