This is about to blow up big time guys.
I hope it doesn't blow up...that would indicate a bubble, which would eventually pop. I hope it keeps a nice steady rise. We'll see. Regardless, considering everything in the works, we're extremely undervalued right now. Hey cloudboy, do you have any suggestions for the "btcd wallet" name? You are right, but I also meant blow up in terms of popularity and not just price. I would like it to have a name which indicates what it is, a complete wealth portfolio. We want btcd to not just be a crypto currency, but our gateway to commodities and other assets. Portal could be good, wealth manager could be good too. I've removed a shit ton of btcd from bittrex over the last 24 hours, and I will continue to do so. Me too. BIG things are coming, I'm not gonna let bittrex be staking my coin. Honestly I'm not even worried about price, there are only 6k coins for sale on bittrex lol, that's nothing.

Since Im quite not familiar with the PoS and how the staking works, I feel its time to post some noob questions here and hoping to get answers and clear this up: What means "spendable" and "stake" amount in the wallet? I have two different numbers there and when I add it sums up to the total amount I have. I would suppose stake and spendable should be the same, to get the full amount staking. I transferred coins yesterday, maybe I have to wait for some time period... In the status field of staking I get: Staking: Your weight is xx, network weight is yy. How does the wallet account to these numbers and what is the unit? E.g. network weight right now is 66290, does this mean there are total 66290 BTCD staking? Suppose not... Hi Starfleet, (I feel like one of the Maquis saying that, ) 'Spendable' amount refers to the coins you have available in your wallet to use or to send. If some coins are 'staking'(earning you interest) you are unable to touch them until they have finished staking. The staking coins are taken from your spendable total temporarily and become inaccessible during this phase. Below is a basic explanation for 'weight' and network 'weight' (this info comes from Wikipedia). I hope it helps. The weight of every address starts at 0. When an address provides a signature, its weight increases so that after several signatures, the weight approaches the number of coins in the address as of the last signature block. For example, New weight = 0.9 * Old weight + 0.1 * Balance If a signature is not provided by the address in a signature block, its weight decreases: New weight = 0.9 * Old weight This way, addresses whose owners do not wish to participate in signing do not hamper the ability to reach a majority. If an address signs two conflicting blocks, its weight is reset to 0. This is to limit the power of malicious stakeholders. If coins move to a new address, weight is proportionally taken away from the address, but is not transferred to the new address. The new stakeholder will have to build up his weight. If anyone can explain it better, please do. Its always good to make these explanations as clear as possible and easy to follow. Torrn Thank your Torrn! This cleared it up and I think I got it how it works. Everytime I generate BTCD my "stake" increases and the "spendable" ammount decreases for some time to weaken the generation process. After some blocks its back to normal... Basic but difficult for someone like me to understand the whole process behind the math

I got a good question about the pros and cons of being open source with the privacy algo.
Being open source allows the possibility of knowing that your privacy is properly honored. Imagine if it was closed source. Then what is to prevent there being something that logs all the activities? There would be no way to know that this is not happening. So any anonymity solution that is not open source is not really viable.
Now, the other side is whether the attacker can compromise you because they can see the source code.
The answer to that depends on the details of the anon algorithm.
For example, if the anon algorithm was weak and could not withstand anybody actually knowing what it is doing, then surely being open source will be its doom. But anything so weak has no chance for survival anyway and this is another reason for it must be open source!
So, now a strong anon algorithm is one that the attacker knows exactly what it is doing, but still there is nothing they can do. Being open source, everybody can see what it is doing. Good guys will help by pointing out potential weaknesses and it improves.
James
P.S. From a branding perspective it is important to use a word that has no prior meanings. Think "Tesla" for the car. "Apple" for the computer. The word can have existed before, just not in the context of crypto/trading. "Wealth" is good, but probably too close, but a word that clearly indicates wealth could work. What word is short, catchy and means wealth to everyone? Dont say gold.

There is hardly any volume driving the price up. Bids en sells are ridiculously low unfortunately. You couldn't sell anything above 1BTC worth. Hopefully volume will come with new exchanges.

BitcoinDark by xpool - The Official BTCD Multipool PROP reward system BTCD Payouts Scrypt & SHA256 & X11 Algo's DDoS Protected High Performance Backend Simple setup and usage 1% Fee To mine: How does it work?
xpool offers 3 different sets of coins to mine. SHA256, Scrypt and X11. Each algorithm runs on a shift (see below). The confirmed coins are traded throughout the duration of the shift automatically to maximize the profits from exchanging them into BTCD. Once the shift ends, the shift is moved into "Confirming" status while all the coins are confirmed as successfully traded and exchanged, the BTCD payments are sent.
Current shifts run 24 hours, Monday - Friday and end at 7PM Eastern each day except Saturday & Sunday. The weekend shift ends on the Monday. Payments are then finialized and typically complete 2-3 hours after a shift ends.
The advantage of the pool is that you can utilize your any GPU, CPU and older ASIC equipment to earn you the more desired BitcoinDark. Cheers and Happy Hashing!
Donations welcome or tip me, crackers, on IRC!
Any issues, please report them here or feel free to PM me, as I can't always see every post.

Hey Mike! Nice to see you here. You should have seen the orderbook a few days ago. 100,000+ on both sides. Those days will be remembered like the 20000 BTC pizza We are still doing 100 BTC per day of trades, so that is actually quite good. More exchanges wont change much of anything. More tech will James

Hey everyone, this is kind of a re-post from last night.
I love price watching too, but I'd like to keep us focused on development as well.
Call to action!
Alright everybody, James is making real progress and will continue to do so on the technical advancement of BTCD.
I would like to ask the communities support in ramping up marketing activities.
We need people to help spread the word. Get on social media, re-tweet our messages. Let crypto oriented news outlets know about our progress.
Some basic things that we should be doing:
-contact more media outlets (If you have any special connections to any media outlets, please put in a word)
-create a more professional looking website (IceColdTommy has said he will develop the website)
-find someone that can do HTML5 and is willing to start building an html wallet
-come up with a unique name for our "wallet", which will be able to do trades, bets, privatesends, asset exchanges
-improve the logo
Whatever else you guys can think of!
