What aspect ratio does your screen have? Would you rather have a different one?
I personally have a screen with a 16:9 ratio, which I feel is quite good for gaming because objects in the sides are close enough to the middle for me to take notice of them. I could probably go a bit wider.
EDIT: Added 16:10. Also, make sure to mention what your screen is being used for. Feel free to request any options added to the poll.

Where to look for the computer screen ratio?

Where to look for the computer screen ratio?
It's based on your resolution. For the common form (M:N) set up a fraction with the width in pixels as the left number and the height as the right number. Example: 1920x1080... 1920:1080 -> Now simplify as if it were a fraction 1920:1080 = 16:9 Either that or just grab a calculator, divide width by height, and check to see if any common aspect ratio matches. Example: 1920/1080 = 1.778 16/9 = 1.778 The aspect ratio of 1920x1080 is therefore 16:9, since the numbers match. Of course, all of this is assuming that it has square pixels, which most monitors do.

1024 by 768, I think is right for me because if I changed it will be either become too small or too big for me.

I also have a screen with a 16:9 ratio, and have trouble seeing stuff in either side of the screen while playing. (Un)Fortunately, I don't really have that much time to play anymore, so that no longer bothers me that much...

16:9 (1920x1080 asus monitor). I'm curious though, what does a 2:1 monitor even look like.

What do you mean? As far as the aspect ratio goes, you just have even more stuff to the sides. Yours is the yellow, and a 2:1 would be in-between the green and the orange. (I'm not sure there are monitors with a 2:1 ratio exactly)

I'm on an older laptop from the mid 2000's so it's 1024x768 which would be 4:3.

Dual 1920x1080 side-by-side.
Therefore, 3840x1080. Sadly, the ratio isn't "really" on your choice list ( >= isn't fair).

Dude, 2 1080p monitors really isn't enough. Right now, only using 2 because I ran out of monitors (I used to use 5, but a few of my monitors were sold / broke / gave away). Once 4k prices come down, I'd be looking at getting 4x 4k monitors.

I like being able to play a video game, watch some charts, have my chat windows open / etc. Multiple monitors for programming is an absolute MUST, otherwise you're alt-tabbing too much and you're just going to make a mistake.

It's a netbook so it's only 1024x600. They advertise it as 10:6 ratio but it's really more like 10.24:6. Wikipedia says it's between 15:9 and 16:9.

1280x800.
It feels like the perfect resolution/aspect ratio. Wide but not too wide with enough vertical space for doing things like writing word documents and coding. Pretty much all web pages fit without the need for horizontal scrolling. Most games work well too. You can watch movies without the big black bars on the top and bottom getting too big.

I don't know about it being the best ratio, but it certainly has become the most common nowadays. And then, you have people like bluefirecorp with his 4 or 5 monitors.

Well, what's the native resolution of your display, though? Your basically always best off, using the native resolution. 4:3 sounds like a special or rather old display!

I also heard about a couple of people who have bitcoinwisdom, bitcoinity and stuff like that on their monitors to never miss a single trade! Ha!

I use my monitor with 16:9 (1920x1080) Aspect Ratio since 2010, before that i used 16:10 (1920x1200) and long before that, i still remembered that i used CRT monitor with 4:3 aspect ratio (which made my eyes work so hard ) I never see monitor with 2:1 aspect ratio, anyone here ever used that? it's time to upgrade my new monitor with bigger resolution?
