Hi All,

I've been having some problems with one of my miners, and actually was the first one I bought.

I've noticed over the last few weeks, that it seems to go idle after about 3 days. This wasn't too much of a problem, as I am normally around to spot it quickly and reboot which seems to sort it, but obviously a bit of a pain if I am not in or asleep.

However, I can no longer access the login page for this troublesome miner, but I can access the others fine. And according to my pool info, it's hashing quite happily.

I was thinking as to whether or not it needs updating, but haven't looked into how to do this yet.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks in advance Smiley

Can you access it via SSH?

Since it appears to be hashing away happily, do you really have a need to actually access the web console?  Are you still experiencing the random "idle" periods?

cannot access login page in webgui?
does it properly hashes to YOUR pool
if yes-no need to do anything; in the unlikely scenario that it does not-you might have been hacked, so powercycle the miner or try ssh and reboot in ssh

Hadn't thought of trying via ssh

Just tried via putty, and no joy. It says that the connection is refused

How do you mean by hacked and power cycle?

I've rebooted at the PSU every time it goes idle now as I can't reboot via the web gui

look into all your miners use a scanner

http://www.advanced-ip-scanner.com/

find every address you have.  then try to get into the miner.

also try a different cat 5/6 cable to it.

aslo try a different jack in your ethernet switch

Silly question: are you sure you used the correct port for the SSH connection when trying to hit it with putty?  It seems odd that you can't get to that miner by either the web UI or putty.

Do you have it set to DHCP?  Has it picked up a different IP address?

I have to think the setting got corrupted just a bit.  say 192.168.1 .155   and it was 192.168.1.156    if the only change was 155 to 156 it would mine and he would not be able to find it.  he should scan his network. looking for an unknown address.

Hiya, thanks for the responses.

I've fallen ill so not been able to do too much.

I will have a look at the network scanner to see if I can pick it up.

None of the miners are on DHCP, and I've been using port 22 on via Putty, is that the right one?

Good call about the cable and network port though, I will give that a go next time it goes down and see what happens Smiley

Turns out it was an IP conflict with my laptop.........., guess I should have thought of that before.

Thanks for the help though.

Does anyone know anything about updating the miners? I want to be able to tweak them for optimum performance, but the only things I've changed so far is the basics to get it mining, and then overclocked them via Putty. Do firmware/software updates exist for these type of products?

Thanks again,

Congrats on finding the resolution.  Hope you get to feeling better, too.

You can find the latest Bitmain firmware here: https://github.com/AntMiner/AntGen1/tree/master/firmware_S1
Also, Kano has created a cgminer binary for the S1.  You can find it here: https://github.com/kanoi/cgminer-binaries/tree/master/AntS1

Make sure to follow the read me on Kano's github to properly install the new binary.
