I have an idea. I don't know how "astute" it is, since I only have a vague understanding of blockchains and their use as an "internet of their own"

I was thinking, you know Lord of the Rings' famous quote: one ring to rule thme all and in the darkness bind them?

Well. How about one blockchain to link them all and in the cyberspace combine them?

My idea is well since you have things like ethereum, maidsafe, Blocknet and i/o, all trying to create blockchain ecosystems.

What if there would be a GUI for each individual user, where for example i/o is the central ring, and then there is a query box or a selection box where you can click and drag other rings to link into the main one. But this is only the gui for the specific user's PERSONALLY TAILORED blockchain-conglomerate. and well, there should be a function where you, once you have connected your seperate blockchains (I am not sure what the implications are for file sharing, or data hosting, or currency transfer), that you can in the end also give them all a SINGLE passphrase so you don't have to individually change it?
This way you can literally uniquely build your own ecosystem and link the blockchains you want, so that each node of one blockchain is also a node on several other blockchains so that well they all are complicit and help each other, i.e. multifunctional nodes catering to several blockchains?

I don't know if what I'm making sense or understand how it really works... I know ripple has a nice gui and it should make it very easy for the individual to compose (bring together) the pieces of his desired poly-blockchain (multi blockchains combined into one), where you can add or remove them easily by clicking on the image or symbol for it and then add / remove, click and drag, so that people can actually build their own network without using command line since many people seriously well, you know, don't like that or just will be completely TURNED OFF by the need to do that. a simple wizard could guide nooba in the gui as well.

I mean not just "I/O coin sidechains" as mentioned in the Chameleon statement but I mean linking other currency ecosystems and making them interoperable with the "one ring to rule them all" not because it is superior but simply because its functionality unites their differences into a singular functional super-structure...

one important aspect springs to mind, security... these others chains could have flaws that could bring down  or have a really bad knock on effect to the eco system.

This system would never work.  These other chains dont want to be part of anyone else and vice versa.

would it really cant they be like onion layers on a node each layer not contaminating the others... yes the chains might not want to be part of anyone else but maybe users would want it... but i think you're right, each blockchain is like a galaxy then faaaar away from each other... after the big bitcoin bang   :

Support withdrawn from the exchanges.  How far can this pull the price down?  Better yet, how big a buy in when it is drawn down?  Games within games within games!  Always something fun.........   (No I do not know anything.  Just speculating.  After all, isn't that what we are here for?)

I'd like to get my IO coins off of Poloniex and into my own hands, but I keep getting this warning on two separate Windows computers even after scanning for malware. On one hand yeah I know its not anything deliberate, as I've been following the IO project a long time. But on the other hand, I'm stumped. I will move on and create a keypair on an offline machine, but if anybody else gets the same issue I'd be curious.

If the wallets are coming from our github they are safe, those are false positives, please remember that they are p2p. Im running wallets on W10 and W7

Great work IOC Team. But not everyone, probally less than half of the people who watch this thread, bother with Slack, so you are alienating potential and exsisting members by only updating in slack.

If someone in slack can copy and paste info here that would be great.   Cant be too far from Beta now looking t the twitter messages. Really great to think the release of DIONS should be ready for Christmas, that would be the best gift ever.

PS: Free I/OCoin physical coin to any members here who want to use and love the IOC signature.  You must have over 100 posts. PM me

PPS: i also follow updates on Facebook here  https://www.facebook.com/iocoindigitalcurrency

Will the new wallet have a "lightening Blockchain download"?

I ask because i just downloaded the Stratis blockchain and it took less than 5mins, really fast/impressed.
Also it has a feature that allows you to scan a QR code to send and receive coins, which is really useful.
Will the new wallet have this feature also?

We will have a bootstrap. The reason why stratis is fast because it is a new chain. Wait till it bloats. How large in GB is the chain of them?

We have plans in making a HD wallet. Like a wallet direct in the blockchain Without having to dl the whole chain with data. Just for coin purposes and not data.  Maybe a light wallet. Still discussing that.

Hd wallet has nothing to do with bloat and speed of sync.

You can add pruning to reduce bloat aswell. If youve used opreturn for your data this becomes trivial.. i cant tell ofcourse since you guys are closed src

This is pretty irrelevant issue, new wallet and Dions integration on its way. Technical discussion with syscoin dev doesn't benefit us

Well not really irrelevant, it took me 3 days to download the IOC wallet, then after 1 day i had the loading issue and removed it. Very annoying to wait that long and for it to break.

Anyhow.  Would be ideal and very much needed, for the blockchain to download much faster like within 1 hour, this is possible with a new bootstrap version.  Also i think QR code scanning is a great feature, id like to see that also.

Richard how was it at the meeting with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce, must of been a real pleasure to meet him, would be great if IOC could work with your government.

Updates are shared in slack first. After that Facebook and Twitter. Most of the updates are posted in here as well. In some cases we dont. Not because we are not willing to but Just forget. There are enough members in slack that can post an update from slack in here as well.
