How do you guys feel about VIA being used as a guinea pig for segwit?

It worked out for CLTV, and testing segwit in a live production alt seems like a good idea.

Plus Peter The Todd already knows VIA's codebase!

that could work, along with development into viacoin as a bitcoin sidechain

  tips will be spent on ale and ladies of questionable character Grin

Great idea but I thought it was still theoretical, is there code out there yet?

I think so, since it's been in segwit testnet since last year.  Part of Elements Alpha IIRC.

Sounds like a great idea indeed! I guess, it needs to be put as a VIP (Viacoin Improvement Proposal/ like BIP) on Via Github? It has my vote!
Viacoin as a BTC-mate seems conform the current position of Viacoin.

Sounds promising Smiley

I'm a python enthusiast myself but I'm definitely up for a crash course in c++ to try and help contribute. kickass.cr here i come.
would love to see seg wit in via before btc, it would be the beginning of a consistent positive reputation for the coin.

@btcdrak, it's fkn diabolical that cliearwallet.io throws a https warning when you visit it, just buy a new cert from comodo already.

macd on the weekly via chart looks very much like ltc before the halving imo. havent felt this much excitement towards via for a long time Smiley

Someone was dumping ~350k Via on Bittrex.
So: first collecting a bag and then dumping. What a strategy. Maybe some Xt lovers?

Does anyone know what happened with Cryptsy? I assume there are a lot of various altcoins locked up there.

Most wallets are locked. Message is: 'More wallets opened for withdrawal 1/27/2016'
I have 145 LTC locked at Cryptsy and therefore have still some hope that one day I will have them back.

If any hack has taken place on an exchange it prob would be on Cryptsy.

On Viaplanet slack one of the members has affirmed that his wallet was hacked. For the moment he is investigating what could have happened and is not (yes) available for comments and feedback.

You are very welcome to join. Moderator TedUnite though is in the 'do not disturb' mode for good reasons. Not sure if I can give you access. Maybe have some patience untill he is back.

craptsy was hacked nearly two years ago and these fuckers kept it a secret, didnt report it to authorities and kept the site running, i'm sure thats not legal

on top of that until the very last minute they were pressuring people to upgrade their accounts to verified tier - which means getting their personal information - and get this, looks like all this information is now in hackers hands (supposedly, wouldnt be surprised if it was an inside job)

so its possible that was the attack vector - if that member had same password on craptsy and bittrex, they simply just logged in and dumped his holdings and then withdrew bitcoins

Wonder who the maverick was who bought $20,000 worth of Via 10 months ago?
Since then Via has halved and Btc has doubled.

Who are you Viawhale?

You must be slain!

EDIT:
Whaleie, I sent you some VBTC. Enjoy it my son Cheesy

Anyone else wanting some worthless assets post me your address Smiley

Any segwit-Via follow up? Is it worked out behind closed doors? In that case, I expect no answer yet.

Check out this transaction.

Richlist addresses
2. VdoY9gr6Jo7356PECP8ncfZptqqGBw9XjD - 7,370.01780552
4. VsEpgfua49fZsEwCawwdgchfhxrHtd4xtj - 50,000.0
8. VvfJcUjpjmQedL5mtAnChsrnPGPW82xwUg - 2,102.3742752

Just paid into
12. Vat2wisFnRJCiyF9CjtDofRedGYdKME56W + 59,493.47715994

Addresses 2, 4 and 8 are definitely controlled by the same person with a combined total of 2775024.5 which is more than the number 1 address on the rich list.
So at most, two people control 25% of all Viacoin in existence.
