I've just been alerted to the fact that someone named, jamesc76O (last character is a Capital Letter "O", while mine is a number "0") --very clever--, is trying to scam people by asking to send payment to HIS address:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=673571.120

Is there a way to remove him from the forum? What is the most effective way to deal with this situation?

get some one to negative trust him so he goes red. hopefully people will notice and it NOT Just ignore it.

you might get lucky and the forum bans him but it is doubtful. try message theymos if you have not already.

Why not just ban him?

This could bring financial harm to the OP here, who is legit.

The Auction that Beastlymac is referring to is one where I got a PM from a scumbag called BEASTYMAC, (close but missing the L)
I replied the PM and paid the auction price not realising that it was not infact the correct user. My fault entirely for not reading the PM email correctly.
It really has me at a loss though, that a username who has been confirmed to being a scammer is not banned. I guess its just as easy for these assholes to just register another username. I would have thought that upon registering this username, whoever runs Bitcointalk knows the IP address or at least some identifying information that can be used to bring these scumbags to justice.
I guess that the protection of the buyers on these auction sites is not a big enough priority for those who have the power to protect.
One suggestion of not allowing new usernames be created that are extremely similar to already trusted members would be a freakin brilliant start to try to slow down these assholes.
Either way, at the end of the day, im happy to say that the real BEASTLYMAC has shipped my item and provided tracking info etc. He is in no way associated to the asshole who ripped me off.
Its a pity that the fuckin scumsuckin asshole has been given the go ahead to continue to operate on these forums though.
I wont be bidding on any other auctions hosted by Bitcointalk until the mods upgrade the protection for buyers from what appears to be an accepted level of threat.
CAVEAT EMPTOR I guess.

It's funny we now have scammers scamming the victims of a scam group buy. Either way the buyer is gonna be screwed. This place is becoming a total cesspool.
