Lets get together and talk about the giant bags of shit/scamcoins we hold.

We can use this thread to discuss:

-what giant bags are we holding
-How we got suckered into bagholding
-How are we dealing with the burden of bagholding
-what do we plan to do about the bags we are holding
-how others can learn from our mistakes and avoid repeating them.

The one coin I am currently bagholding now is Shieldcoin (SHLD). I quickly glanced the thread and thought that the tech presented looked good. I saw it trading on bittrex in the high 50ks SAT and decided to put in a buy order around the 30K sat, looking for a flash dip and cheap coins. I think it was a buy order for 4k SHLD worth about 1.25 BTC. It was late afternoon and since being funemployed has its perks, decided to take a nap. Wake up a few hours later to the flash dump on a FUD campaign that was launched on BTCTalk and Twitter.

I am still holding this bag as a lesson. I consider my 1.25 BTC Loss a lesson. I should review the material presented to me more carefully. I should be more active in my positions and keep hitting that F5 key in the thread to keep up on any news. I should monitor the exchanges more carefully and look for any sudden changes in price and/or volume.

The one thing I won't do, is skip my afternoon naps.

My name is tokyoghetto and I am a Shieldcoin Bagholder.

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

The first piece of advice I found on these forums was "you only lose if you sell", which turned out to be the shittest piece of advice I have ever been given. I wish I had sold most of my shitcoins at a loss, rather than holding them until they were practically worthless. My name is bubble83 and I am a multiple shitcoin Bagholder.

I bought 1.6btc worth of vertcoin at .00128 and .0008. I failed to sell at the pump. Now vertcoin is being trading at .00028 and going down 3% everyday. My name is Joshuar and I am a Vertcoin bag holder.

LOL. I got stuck with almost 100,000 Hawaiicoins when it suddenly disappeared off Bittrex with no warning.

Its weird. I am holding a dozen bags ranging anywhere from $2 - $60 in value each, and I know they are bags, and I watch them go down a little bit almost every day -- all signs point that I should dump them, yet for the most part I can't bring myself to do it.

Initially my plan was to collect and hold coins I thought had a chance at making it in the long-term, and if all else fails I can use them as a rarity or a collectable someday. Except unlike gold or pogs these things can break down and never be fixed.

Here's coins I like that I can't bring myself to dump yet because I am still holding on to irrational hope that they will see renewed interest:

AC
CINNI
DOGE
EMC2
MRY
POT
UNO

Here's coins that I think are truly innovative but have been kicked in the shins too much recently so I scaled back my holdings (wouldn't call them "bags" just yet):

BC
DRK
LTC
MYR
NXT

Here's the two coins that actually went UP in the last month or two:

NMC
XCP

Here's a pile of shit that I can't explain why I still carry around:

NAUT
RZR
VRC

with the exception of classic alt coins or ones which i have participated in the development of i hold few large quantities......

usually best to dump as soon as they go to market or in some cases there may be a pump or two.....the longer you wait to dump the more risk the

developer vanishes.....

if you really believe in a coin as an alternative to bitcoin or one of the majors you should be happy to hold and mine that coin no matter what the value.

Check out my coin Photon

what was it about vertcoin that made people invest at the highs and why has it dropped so much?

That is one painful bag.

I am also bagholding 30k of SUPER. But it was a free bag. I got my initial investment + profit dumping some at the highs (around 10k SAT).

held on to 30K SUPER to stake but after the Mintpal pump and dump the dev disappeared and SUPER lost its momentum. I still think it might go higher but I am starting to doubt it.

I usually get rid of the coins I hold the first 24 hours. ( After it hits a major exchange. )

Not bagholding any coins right now. Burned myself a bit 2-3 days ago, with VAST coin. Dumped for a 70% loss. ( near $1k lost )

Never go sleep when a coin gets added on a exchange.

Hey, smexy. Don't waste your time. Time's precious.

I know FLAP has been delisted from the major exchanges and I believe Poloniex just delisted it 4 days ago. Anyone bagholding FLAP will have a hard time dumping. Reading the thread it also mentions that the network isn't even moving anymore. I think the writing was on the wall for Flappy coins for some time and anyone still bagholding Flappy today had plenty of time to exit. That time, unfortunately, has now passed.

They are not even listed on the shit-tier exchanges?

I don't know whats worst, bagholding a shit coin that is listed and watching the price plummet day after day, or bagholding a coin that isn't even listed  on an altcoin exchange.

VTC Devs just announce new algo implementation, so hold your coins and there may yet be another pump.

VTC Devs just announce new algo implementation, so hold your coins and there may yet be another pump.

https://vertcoin.org/pow-algorithm-upgrade-lyra2/

Will it rise 20 times? If not then its useless to me. Still can not believe I got sucked into this.
Last time they did something it barely moved; its a dead coin.

Plus I read the link, the new aglo is planned to be switched to in, November....thats 4 months away....in the previous 2 months vert coins price dropped 200%...... God I don't even want to see its price by that time....

I do not have any hope on it. I am hoping FTC and XPM, by being both listed on Btc-e will get pumped and help me recover something.
Have written off VTC, DGC, and MSC is still not sure. Should have gotten more NXT instead of MSC.

Mastercoin and Primecoin seem like they could both have one more pump, not sure about ltc or the others though. Imo

Datacoin was my biggest loss...invest about 3BTC in it and held out until recently and got about .5BTC back. Good innovation and coin but dev. just abandoned project out of nowhere. Taught me to never hold on any coin. Although I am holding in 2 other coins because I believe in them but besides that just buy and sell. Darkcoin, Vertcoin, Doge gave me much money.

Anyone holding Flappy? oh god lol  Lips sealed

Yup! Lost 1 BTC on Flappycoin.

But I made up with it with mining Talkcoin at the start and selling at 8k sat. Still holding a few though, actually an innovative coin so might have some future.

sell always at the first pump, usually is the big one

That's what I did with darkcoin, bought at 0.003 and sold at 0.0055

And then it went over 0.02 LOL

there are some exceptions , but usually with small altcoin it work in that way

The one coin I am currently bagholding now is Shieldcoin (SHLD). I quickly glanced the thread and thought that the tech presented looked good.

My name is tokyoghetto and I am a Shieldcoin Bagholder.

You have too much experience trading to buy retarded stuff like that.  All it takes is me looking at the spec sheet for all of 1 second to see where it says "3 days of mining".  Any coin with a mining period that small is going to be completely worthless due to no market penetration whatsoever and all coins held by 5 people.

Even 7 days mining is worthless.  Blackcoin was only an exception due to being at the right place at the right time.  XC got away with it due to having a promising developer.  After that point, unless Richard Feynman is making the coin, there's zero reason to get involved in any flash mining coins like that.

When there's no doubt at all that the coin is designed from the ground up specifically to be a scam, why do people buy it?

I have got way too many bags to even have the heart to post it here. I have stopped mining and investing, only relying on signature campaigns to generate extra money.

I have decide to keep my bugs for all eternity if they don't recover.

0.5 BTC's worth of JuggaloCoin in my case, which I bought during its IPCO. I was skeptical, believing that the Juggalos would scoff at it, but I got charmed and I threw in my BTC. Turns out, JuggaloCoin was "scoffed off" in pretty much the manner I had anticipated.

But I have to give credit to the dev. Before he gave up on it, he really did try. Also, I salvaged a lesson from the loss of three hundred bucks: these days, it's hard to build a coin by building up a real user community in that somewhat strange outside world. Wink Not unlike starting a new business...

i never recovered from my blackcoin blunder, i had stayed away from trading but still kept an eye on the news, i noticed that BC and DRK were looking good but only bought a small amount. Then BC started to rocket and i thought 'damn, i shoulda got more a dat sheet' so i put a whole freakin' BTC on BC at the top thinking it was gonna keep going, or at least hold a value...nope, after a month of hodl and missing out on DRK pump i sold and bought more shitcoins, which also tanked..
now i have like 0.01btc left but i am starting make gains recently from learning so many lessons. Roll Eyes

seem like anyone who bought Blackcoin @ ATH is feeling the pain right now.

Also seems like CINNI turned a ton of investors into bagholders aswell. I avoided CINNI because it was ninja launched over a long weekend and it only had a 3 day PoW period.

ecc - a lot. i thought it would be ok, then the dev ran away
ebt - some i thought maybe is something but then they dumped on me and i have no idea what's going on with that coin - maybe the dev ran away
bcc - i thought could be taking off but turned out the dev ran away
particle - some i thought good coin but then the dev ran away
mrc - some, dev maybe ran away but somehow low interest in the coin
cinni - some, dev possibly ran away
muniti - quite a few - i thought it would be cool invetement but then guess what? The dev ran away.
corgicoin - a lot. I thought it would rise again. Everybody thought the dev ran away when in reality he just was scared of trolls and refused to use btctalk (he told me on twitter) so the coin died

my conclusion: this is a shitfest and the only way to make money around here is to rip people off. I was thinking about getting some skills and launching some fake coins (maybe 10 or 20 or maybe 100) and run away with the money. Please help.

i could maybe offer workshops later how to succefully create a shitcoin and rip people off and run away when i have enough experience. Wouldn't that be something? I am sure there would be demand. Why are we even buying coins? If you are a shitcoin-dev with art least 50 coins experience get in contact with me to teach me those skills. Thank you.

LOL, you're right and this is a shitfest. And the funniest thing about it is all the devs and superbags are trying to pretend its not. Except for the people honest enough to post in this thread.

Every once and a while I read something about a new coin that re-excites my brainhole the way bitcoin did when I first thought I fully understood it.

But the amount of crap you have to sift through to get there is staggering.

So long as the same core group of nerds (myself included) keep buying the new coins, every single other coin will continue to go down, down, down. There's not enough new people coming into this scene to support the coinsplosion.

NAUT
RZR
VRC

Now I have my Target list, this is just for starters, you little TROLLING CUNT.

Quarkcoin is my biggest loss. But I've become quite the coin collector. Sometimes I'll purchase coins just to have a few (like Hobonickels). I've made some pretty sweet profits, but then I always end up putting it back into the market. My favorite bags are: Zetacoin, Unobtanium, Primecoin, and Namecoin

with the exception of classic alt coins or ones which i have participated in the development of i hold few large quantities......

usually best to dump as soon as they go to market or in some cases there may be a pump or two.....the longer you wait to dump the more risk the

developer vanishes.....

if you really believe in a coin as an alternative to bitcoin or one of the majors you should be happy to hold and mine that coin no matter what the value.

I keep a Notepad file on my desktop listing all the coindevs-for-hire like you, Hazard, loljosh, and etc, along with PnD devs with more than one coin in the market.

With these coins, I always, always, sell within a day of listing. I know there are no development behind these coins, so what's the point in keeping them?

While this method won't maximize every drop of potential profit, it will still give me a healthy profit and prevent any silly bagholding.

Aside from Bitcoin (obviously), I can only be considered a bagholder for four coins. Four coins out of almost 1,100 with a future, I think.

i never recovered from my blackcoin blunder, i had stayed away from trading but still kept an eye on the news, i noticed that BC and DRK were looking good but only bought a small amount.
Roll Eyes

Don't worry about it, man, you just got hazed by a bubble. The first stock I bought on my own, a tech stock, I bought within a week of its all-time high. No joke. I'm sure you can guess what happened next...

I'm sorry but this is 100% correct.

my advice tokyo ( and i don't know how long you have been in the game)  the PoW give PoS significant value - either way in a ratio you see ?

I'm holding some Moon (and recently got some more) - i'm not feeling any heat, if the moon rises we can all dance under it.

- also buying Quark strategically

- Also entering into some Quality Pos - Cap ( may look at HBN)  ( maybe some others )

- I purchased some Myriad but i'm not bag holding as it hasn't really dropped from my buy point (i'm sure it could)

- i've got bags of quality , and i've never really lost on crypto.

Bought $35 worth of Nxt at about 9 cents each around June. Saw it get pumped to almost 11 cents but didn't sell. Then the price got dumped all the way down to 4.5 cents. Should've seen the pump a mile away but panic bought instead. That sure cost me a lesson I'll never forget. Sad

Still hodling though. I still cling onto the hope that Nxt will do a 360 someday and the price will go back up.

My name is Puberty and I am a Nxt bagholder. Cry

What is your Nxt account?

I'll do you a deal  Grin

I'll loan you 200NXT to make you whole again so you don't have to worry and be sad. When Nxt hits $1 a piece, you give me the 200NXT back. And I won't even charge you interest

Deal?  Grin

sometimes I slip up. I dumped my Shieldcoin bag a few days ago. I picked up a new bag of Pseudocoins, but this is more of a gambling trade. I don't  care about the "tech" or "dev". I just want to see if it pumps like Keycoin did so I can do a quick flip.

This is an interesting thread. Nothing wrong with sharing your bagholding stories. One thing that keeps repeating itself is the word. "hope".

That word doesn't belong in crypto-trading and its one of the things that makes us into bagholders.

Sort of. We don't have a 12 step program. We just share some bagholding stories and try to learn from each other.

a couple nuggets you can take from this thread.

-be wary of coins with shitty names
-be wary of coins that may have been cloned by Hazard or loljosh
-be wary of coins that trade only on bittrex with low volume and get delisted.

that last one hurts alot because once Bittrex delists and you have no where else to dump your bag, you are sunk.

I certainly hope you don't forget! If you can take the lesson to heart and stubbornly stick to it even at the hottest lesson-melting moment, you will have a virtue that will save you tens of thousands in the stock market some day. It's only a matter of years before the NASDAQ plays host to yet another wild bubble party.

Still hodling though. I still cling onto the hope that Nxt will do a 360 someday and the price will go back up.

That's actually a good idea. My first self-directed foray into the stock market saw me buying a tech stock within a week of its all-time high. No joke.  Sad

Strangely, I just sat back and watch the thing go down, down down...but then, after a muddle-through in the doldrums, it started to climb again. So I bought an equal amount, in fiat terms, which netted me 4X the shares. It continued to climb, albeit slowly, unit it spurted up to the point where my whole bag was actually worth a little more than what I had paid for the two tranches.

I didn't sell all that well: I exited with a loss. But, the loss I ended up enduring was far lower (percentage-wise) than the loss I would have had if I had acted like the stereotypical bagholder.

That's what I learned, as a wet-behind-the-ears punter, back in tha day. Seems I keep having to learn the hard way... Roll Eyes

But, although I have an indirect vested interest in saying this, Nxt really is one of the best bags to hold. You did pick quality, which puts you a quantal level above the typical bagholder 'round here (like, for example, me  Grin )
