do you guys think they're using botnet or are they just in a huge number of assholes with nothing else to do?

I think it´s a botnet, they may have been charged by rivals like Paypal or the Fed but more likely by some other webcurrency or a blackmailer, or it´s a speculant who wants to get lower prices by scaring us.

Be careful, if a weird russian approaches you with a ransom request.

I had a guy approach me and asking $5000 via LR, when I said no he said he'd attack again, and generated a ddos. His ddos was different from what I had before, so I'd guess lots of people are seeing in bitcoin an opportunity to make money.

I strongly recommend against doing anything those guys request, and even replying may be a bad idea, just click "spam".

Any chance you could post those messages for the world to see?

I hope that's the case, because if so, then epic fail.

Bitcoin Fact: the price of bitcoin will not be greater than $70k for more than 25 consecutive days at any point in the rest of recorded human history.

Bitmarket.eu hasn't been online for about a day now. It's just the white screen of death. Could someone reanimate the site pls?

Great. Your site is really useful to me. It doesn't only replace Tradehill for me, it's much better. I promise to donate a bit more, just don't give me any more heart attacks please not announcing asap what's going on. For a day I thought I'd lose €€€/BTC. Ever since those exchanges from Sofia and Poland ran off with people's coins or lost them in hardware failure (were they buying their harddisks at near border streetside markets?) I'm a little paranoid.
