Those of you who are using Gmail and Facebook are just widening the massive database these companies and in turn the Govt. have for predicting your every move and probably your political affiliations. Every time your send or receive a message they are using powerful algorithms to determine as much as they can about you and those you are in contact with. Don't think that since you aren't "doing anything wrong" that there is no risk. These companies use this info to attempt to lead the public in subtle ways whether your are aware of it or not.

Gmail users are just adding to Google's coffers and widening the asymmetrical information gap between the corporate elite and  the rest of us.

Cut it out.....

IMO gmail is the best. Google has proven to be very reliable, very innovative and has a corporate motto of "do no evil"

They openly admit that automated systems read your emails looking for keywords so they can target ads to you. Additionally there is the whole NSA having access to their stored data fiasco.

There are also some scary stories:

http://www.wired.com/2010/01/operation-aurora/

And also check out these pages:

https://google.com/history

wtf , That really is scary , bye bye Gmail

Gmail is the best email provider. Very fast, simply to use and much intuitive, and in terms of safe, google has proven to be reliable in this time, after hacks attack. I hope that there will not be other problem in future.

The only free & legit one? No far from it there are hundreds/thousands which are legit and free and probably better than gmail.
