I've never done it, but I believe you can go 6 deep, not that I ever would. I am two deep at this time for one miner in one room just because I haven't pulled it out yet.
I added another switch and now can run the Avalon6 and S5 together for 4.7TH.  Good thing it's been cool the last few days, I haven't needed to use my heater at all.

Might want to get a different power strip, not sure how many joules that one can handle but it doesn't look too modern.

I don't know if I would base it on how modern it is.  I have some from the past that are metal and far more substantial then modern power strips.  And some modern ones it's kinda hard to tell just by look.

But I would not base it on how modern it looks.  I have seen modern looking ones that are crap... so just hard to tell via picture.  And even though they are crap for "non-miners" they likely work fine.  Us miners use more electricity in a lot of cases than a typical user.

It's rated for 15 amps and it is older than most of the users of this forum.  It is my original power strip from my first computer, an Apple IIc.  It's built like a tank, they don't make stuff like it anymore, literally.  I think lightning could hit it and it would keep working.

That was what I was guessing Smiley.  There are some of these older power strips that are truly amazing.  I love some of my old metal ones that work great, I don't have many at this point.

But those who have not used/touched some of these old beasts don't understand how much better made they were then today.  Today they are all plastic almost to keep costs down. They really are like tanks on these good old ones.

I always like to see a GPU miner so much personality Smiley.  Can you go into more details?  What cards are we looking at and assuming your mining ether what is speed?

Thanks for sharing!

I suspended the cards on the side for better airflow/stability.  Yeah i'm mining eth with the claymore dualminer (with dcr).  I have one 390 (xfx) on the motherboard, and 2 380 (xfx and one gigabyte).  I like the xfx, overclocks well + the 380 has two 6 pin vs one 8 pin for the gigabyte.  Rig gets about 74mhs eth and maybe 0.004btc worth of dcr daily.  I need heating in the garage 7-8 months a year anyways, plus it gets the humidity out.  s7 was a bit much.  This is much better - i'll add a 4th card soon and it should take about 1000w.  cost of the rig was pretty cheap, z97 motherboard (4 slots for pci), ssd and 8g of ram, less than 150$ after Mail in rebates.  I only bought what was on a good sale.  Right now its decent earnings, but people shouldnt think it will last forever, but I pay 0.05cents canadian for electricity + its heating, so this is alllll good for roi...eventually.

edit:  forgot to say, I have 1xpci usb risers to 16x.  WARNING:  they come with Sata to Molex adapters - the shitty kind (molded plastic over wires).  DO NOT USE.  risk of fire.  especially if you overclock.  there are good kinds that dont cause fires.

Thanks for sharing! I have been dabling in ETH a little bit so made me much more curious on what others are using on cards.   I'm trying to do moderation in past I jumped in and went all at once, which as a investment is risky.  It is a fun hobby with so many memories of old GPU day's when working on it now.

Love the heatsinks on the PSU Smiley

Did you put them randomly or did you identify the hot spots?

Anyhow that's a pretty nice setup you got, cheers!

Currently, there are 30 GPU's in my farm total. 5 rigs of 6 cards each. 4 of the rigs are running Gigabyte R9-380's, 6 cards each for 120 MH/s per rig. I built one rig, using 6 of the R9-290/390 family that hashes at 180 Mh/s.

PSU's on the 380 rigs are EVGA 1300 watt Gold rated. PSU on the 290/390 rig is EVGA 1600 watt Gold rated.

All Asrock BTC H81 Motherboards, Celeron Dual cores, Powered USB 3.0 1x to 16x risers.

5 Dedicated outlets in my garage off the electrical panel. $0.10 KWh costs.

Very cool, honestly I think GPU rigs are probably the safest bet, very good warranties and a great resale on them. I mean look at the life of 7950, it launched January 2012 and it is still being used to mine. This rig could go on for a very long time if you need it to.

I have KNC Titan rigs (4 now) and mine LTC...I did some figures in the past and at the current LTC prices (if I remember right) on

www.litecoinpool.org/calc (nice ltc calculator anyone can use) at 14c kwh for 1000mh and 4000 watts *using gen tarkins firmware figures*

I THINK you get 1/2 a Titan Cube in $$$ of what you would get at around 9 bucks at an ethereum price.. plus.. on say a Sapphire 7950 3gb ..which is what I had when doing figures.

(sold it ...had no time to put up with messing with a 1 card rig )

SO...if you have cards or IF you want to say mine with a NEW GPU on the card till ethereum all goes POS coin ....to bet your card (on paper at least) for a discount

and or free (depending I guess on if you hold ethereum or cash it all out to btc or usd)

then hey go for it

but from what I understand (or last I heard) the ethereum coin is gonna go POS coin around the latest estimate I heard was Feb 2017? correct me if wrong...

but anyway ....not a bad bet if you need/want a couple GPU cards or again have some laying about Smiley

just figured folk would want the comparison

also if my figures are way way off on ethereum and say it is is better then 1/2 a titan cube etc etc feel free to correct me.....again I did the figures

but don't have the time and had only the 1 card...so this is what I remember (i think I'm close) Smiley

Hope as a 'ballpark' this is helpful in that GPU mining Ethereum and KNC Titans mining whatever scrypt imho seem the only way a home miner can do more then just OK.

anyway stuff to do Smiley
