I was talking about this idea the other day about a coin with the main goal of improving the lives of the poor people. I think we got a good candidate for that here. If the dev doesn't screw up big, I can see this becoming a really huge crypto-currency. Maybe a coin that will be head-to-head to bitcoin in terms of price and recognition. Also, for the miners, when you mine this coin you are not only mining for yourselves but also helping a kid somewhere in the world. So as for the manner of mining guilt-free, greed-free, this is the best coin in the crypto-world. Period. So, let's make this big, shall we?  Let's do it! |

And when would that launch be? We're working on the coin as we speak. This isn't just another pump and dump coin. We want to make sure that everythings fleshed out, all the i's dotted and t's crossed, so on and so forth. We should be ready fairly soon. |

Hello all! I know you are all eager for our PotatoCoin release! That being said, I just wanted you guys to know that this is not a one man operation. And I'd like to take the time to introduce our team!
This coin is being developed by the Bitember network. Our complete team consists of four people. Two devs, one PR manager and one guy with a three year bachelor's degree in economy (me). This is also part of why the coin is taking such a long time to develop. Much needed time.
We're not just making a pump and dump scam coin here. We actually believe in this coin. We want it to succeed, and for something to succeed, you have to plan for it. And that's what we're doing.
We're figuring out what the annual costs is going to be, how much we will be able to spend each year, who our target demographics are (both on the charity side and on the miner/trader/user side). We're basically trying to take everything into account. So that's what's taking time right now.
Regarding the client, well, it's basically done. Our devs are putting some finishing touches on it while the PR manager and I are going through the plan again. When that's done we're going to go through it one more time. And then it's launch time!
Some other things: the African Trust Fund (ATF) and the Initial distribution to African farmers fund (Idaf) won't be touched until after the coin goes from PoW to PoS. That will be in approximately 434 days. There are two reasons for this:
1. We don't want to flood the market with coins from the get go and ruin the price and
2. When PoS kicks in, the funds will act as an actual investment bond instead of just a no-interest holding account.
Both ATF and Idaf will have their corresponding addresses on potatocoin.net and both of them will have a supplementary excel sheet each so that we can justify any withdrawals we do. Complete transparency.
