I think he means, it might be too intimidating for the noobs to figure out how to speed up the sync, add extra nodes to connect to, config txt, etc.

Hello team, I have downloaded the EMD wallet version 0.8.7.600 and I added a passphrase.  For the life of me I cannot find the option UNLOCK the wallet.

These are my steps

1. I added a passphrase while the wallet was initially syncing (no big deal)
2. Added the boot strap that helped alot
3. Wallet synced 2 days later from network (playing catch)

4. Now that it is caught up, I cannot figure out how to unlock the wallet. Usually under settings.

5. Saved all the block files
6. Deleted the wallet (no coins in it anyway)
7. Fired up the wallet again (new) with the all the saved block files
8. Wallet rescanned for like 45 min and is caught up.

9. I have not added a passphrase since I don't know how to unlock it.


Wallet version is 0.8.7.600 windows

Please advise, what am I missing here.

it should ask you for your passphrase when you try to send your emeralds.
There is really no other reason to unlock the wallet.

Spidersbox, thanks for the quick response.  I was just used to have it locked and having to unlock it when I was POS with other wallets.
I guess that is not the case here.

EMD is only PoW and not PoS so it is not neccassary to unlock your wallet for staking.
