I plan to build a BURST rig. What's the best Gb/$ HDD ? An SSD is a great plus ? And what about SSHD ? Thank you.

No one can help me ?

Plenty of Hard Drive size and price data here
http://www.newegg.com/Hard-Drives/Category/ID-15?name=All-Hard-Drives

Typically the 4TB drives have the lowest cost/TB but of course that changes with sales and time.

Based on the above information you should find that SSD are not as competitive for price / TB

Thank you ! It seems that the 4x 1 Tb is cheaper than a 4 Tb one.

Lowest cost 1TB drive on NewEgg -  $44.95 x 4 = $179.8
Lowest cost 4TB drive on NewEgg - $139.99

I'm not sure where you are getting 4x 1TB drives are cheaper than 1x 4TB drive (maybe I am just miss-understanding).  I just pulled quick dirty numbers from the drives but you will find that the $/TB sweat spot is around the 4TB mark, except for sales or other variables.

Plus, using 4 1TB drives also hurts your future growth since you have already used 4 SATA ports.

Anyways, Good-Luck shopping.

So, I've certainly missed something. But I've seen one with 8 Tb at $299, so it's $37,5/Tb so it's this one the best. But it's an external one, it's a problem ?
If is USB3.0 or eSATA, its ok.

I actually prefer external drives.

for anyone mining on mininghere.com, you may wish to reconsider your choice of pools. 92% of their claimed most recent payments, are simply not on the blockchain.

ah, the infamous uray v1 bug. The reason i commissioned a completely new pool code, everyone is welcome to join us where the payments actually ARE on the blockchain. LOL

for anyone mining on mininghere.com, you may wish to reconsider your choice of pools. 92% of their claimed most recent payments, are simply not on the blockchain.

SQNG-PQLD-SAH6-8WDEX   3.41   04/04 14:33:22 <- Not on blockchain
JYVY-CT2V-2KTL-G6PPE            2.80   04/04 14:33:22 <- Not on blockchain
...
9725-AYWG-CSM7-26TQD   44.42   04/04 14:33:05 <- ON BLOCKCHAIN!
ND5L-8VWK-4M9X-GZWM8   3.66   04/04 14:32:58 <- ON BLOCKCHAIN!

ah, the infamous uray v1 bug. The reason i commissioned a completely new pool code, everyone is welcome to join us where the payments actually ARE on the blockchain. LOL

Infamous bug - most extreme example I've seen on any pool - 92% of payments missing? WOW!

How much a Burst-rig?
You do not want competition?

https://www.backblaze.com/blog/petabytes-on-a-budget-how-to-build-cheap-cloud-storage/

67 TB = 31 BTC
0.53759940 BTC/Month BURST @157

Revenue in 57,5  months.

Good luck. Wink

You're assuming that burst stays at the same price.. I really think that once a few key projects are finished.. Burst > $0.01

At which point, granted there will be more miners but it'll quickly pay for itself.

Like playing the lottery... Fact is Burst doesn't have volume right now and it doesn't seem to be growing (besides network hash rate, which isn't a good thing). The only reason the price is at what it is is because miners are all holding hands and not selling. That is pretty impressive in a crypto by virtue alone, but doesn't mean the price will rise.

I buy private Nvidia miners. Send information and/or inquiries to my PM box.

It is, so I think I will buy a few of this one. But what are the payment methods available on NewEgg ?

Well, I chose Crowetic's pool long time ago , because of his support and dedication on Burst. You could always check on stats of pools comparison:

There are prospects of price boom, but no evidence.

The cost to mine only the equipment, because mining is efficient, without wasting energy.

i suspect price boom will take months to happen when reward is low. Or developer release killer feature (e.g storage function) as per OP

Technological RoadMap
Advanced transactions(escrow, subscription, reserve funds then transfer not yet known portion later)(some done)
BurstId authentication system
Allow linking BurstId to burst account for transfers with spending limits.
DHT for off-chain services
Off-chain encrypted messaging and voip between burstid accounts
File storage (disclaimer: still figuring out a good way to do this. this will take a while.)

Not sure whether burst will survive long enough to see this happen

BurstBank doesn't work. All addresses are gone and when you try add your address, it says that you have less than 100 BURST in account.

I have been writing a very in depth analysis of Proof of Capacity.. and you have to trust me.. but $0.01 is very reasonable when you really look closely at the advantages of POC vs POW and POS.  It's going to be a little bit until it's actually ready to publish.  Partially because I want to make sure it's very ready to present to the outside world and partially because I want to wait until I have time to sink some more money into Burst out of my next pay check or two.

Speaking of which.. donating to the wallet in my sig will help me reach the goal I'm trying to hit before I release this paper.. hint hint Wink

Ok guys,

I learned how to do all of this on a very underpowered PC, now I'm going to need to purchase some serious hardware. How does this sound:

64GB DDR4 RAM
58TB storage space
Intel I-7 8 core 3.0 Ghz

I'd be using the CPU miner.

What type of rate should I expect with those specs?

[miner]

new version Burst-miner v1.150401
https://github.com/Blagodarenko/miner-burst/releases/download/v1.150401/miner-burst-1.150401.zip

- MaxThreads (Paths) = 48 Unlimited
- MaxAccounts =100 Unlimited
- MaxFiles per directory =1000 Unlimited (limited by OS)
- parameter "SkipBadPlots" did not used

* fixed some bugs.
* for merged(optimized) plots miner read by 64*CacheSize bytes. For unmerged plots - by 64*stagger bytes.
* optimized the code.
+ in debug-mode added % of used CPU by processing.
+ added processing of bad (not finished) plots. Miner reads correct part of plots.

+ Added an option to enable high threads priority and sets each thread to unused (free) core CPU's.
   "UseBoost" : true,
   (by default - false)

for me, speed increased to 13% (used CacheSize=4000)

! not tested for solo & Dev's pools

EDIT: fixed issue (password for solo-mode), tested.

https://github.com/Blagodarenko/miner-burst

New version causes one of my miners to stall with debug messages. It happens every 1-2 days.

Actually, BURST is very different~~ There is no such CPU or GPU miner...
