I think it's just the opposite...I don't think mining puts a lot of stress on hard drives.  I've only been mining for 4 months with 12 TB, but have been going 24/7 and it's been perfectly fine.  I know others have been mining MUCH longer with the same drives going.

Entropy is a bitch, there is a chance your hard drive will be ruined no matter if it is running or not.

So far, we have seen no indication that mining BURST has a damaging effect on drives.

I'm using new external hard drives (12 TB total)...been mining 24/7 for 4 months.  Everything is totally fine.
