I prefer FIAT for F2F Tx. Bitcoin is online money and an investment asset for me. I prefer to spend my FIAT and HODL Bitcoin Wink

The process is to spend the bitcoin then immediately replenish it into your holdings.

This way you support the economy / currency and improve your own chances of your holdings being worth more one day.

Terrible idea to just hold and only spend fiat IMO.

Bitcoin addresses contain a checksum, so it is very unlikely that mistyping an address will cause you to lose money.

Agree, in general I'm trying to hold my btc for the change that there's a future value increase.  However, actually spending them on the street means that businesses that adopt them, set up to use them are validated in that decision which in turn increases the value of my holdings.

Second of all, it's was just plain fun to go out and do it.  I'm planning on doing it again, tbh.

Never used Bitcoins in face to face transactions, but only due to lack of acceptance here.

How it is? They trust you for zero confirmation transactions, or they only allow you to go after X confirmations? Or they use some kind of 3th part processor?
Wait for confirmation is really not needed for micro transaction (e.g. coffee, restaurant etc.) - the "price" and time it take to execute a double spend will not be worth the effort.
I agree. If you are doing a smaller transaction then most merchants should be able to accept a 0/unconfirmed TX as long as the proper fee is attached.

I recently had my first experience paying for food and beverages in a restaurant using BTC.  It was a really fun experience to use bitcoins "in the real world" and not just for internet commerce.  I'm wondering what other people's first experence using their bitcoins fact-to-face was like.

I have bought only bitcoins face to face but haven't had pleasure of buying something else at any store accepting bitcoins.

Damn, stingy bar, eh?  Unless they're totally packed, I find most bars will let you pay after drinking, even when paying in fiat.
