For me its look like Suprnova and Minerclaim gets DDosd and someone with a big Hashrate claims the coins.. because its not zpool..

we've shutdown m7m algo on zpool as all it was spewing was rejects.
Thanks for the info. Dev is working on it!

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Just take a look at https://chainz.cryptoid.info/xmg/. Easy to see what the problem is: where are those PoS blocks or 10 minutes in between? I wonder if someone is finally doing something about this. I already reported this situation before, although it was not as blatant as it is now.

something wrong? need to shutdown the pool?

Someone just lost their shame and started mining blocks for the future with no restrain. Not sure if pools running with the supposed rules (2 PoS blocks between PoW, or 10 minutes) will have any possibilities at the moment. Problem is the longer this situation stays, the more it will take for it to fade away (current mined block is almost 2 hours in the future: if problem were solved now, we still would have to wait 2 hours to mine anything).

I see. Lots of rejection message. I shut down the pools now.

Yup, luckily there's a "safeguard" that prevents the network from accepting blocks that are more than 2 hours in the future, so it won't go much further. I just don't understand why staking doesn't work yet.

Also, this is all because of the PoW / PoS rule. This rule is kinda dumb, especially for a coin that wants to be energy efficient. The issue is that PoW miners spend most of their time mining for nothing right now, because their blocks will simply be rejected even if they found one. It also makes the coin a lot more fragile as we can all see today. This rule should just be removed.

Well since their is no use mining for the moment...:

I'm taking the downtime to update and power down my SBC's clean logs and other housekeeping duties...

Then rearrange them into a more suitable layout for powering and blowing the dust and cobwebs off them...

What SBC's you running?
I have 5 RPI3 running off 100% solar.
Was thinking of trying a ODROID-XU4 Octa-Core, anyone try that board?

I've been trying to mine XMG with XU4s. They give me about 24khash/s each, running at ~11W. I suppose that's pretty good but atm I got them working at mining some other CPU coin.

Just 2 Raspberry pi3's
and 2 Rpi Zero and 2 Rpi Zero Wireless

Thinking of going full solar but up here in Scotland i'd need to run it of battery 20h a day during winter... More cost effective for me to run it from the mains at this point in time.

What other profitable CPU coins are there right now?

I think the new rule works much better than the rules in the past.
So don't remove, but adjust to prevent these situations please.

I hear you on the solar cost.
Only reason I'm doing it is I have 1200 watts of panels already up from another project.
Not that XMG will make me wealthy but hey, it's a fun project...

Thanks!

I don't want to advertise other coins in the Magi thread but if you look around a bit there are at least 2 more good CPU-only coins Smiley And then of course, lots of crap ones. But I really do recommend the XU4s for mining. I'm sure you can get hashrate higher than 24khash/s, but I haven't bothered tweaking the settings for XMG mining.
Odroid, the manufacturer of XU4s also released a SBC called HC-1 which is a bit cheaper than the XU4 and is better suited for mining. Have a look here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2254852.0

I think we just have to wait for the 2 hours to pass once things are back to normal.

When we've reached the time of the latest block, we can mine again as normal.
