Wow, nice picture! But not this one, although it is a volcano. Additional hint: think Cola. Is it Mount Shasta? I think you're the winner, Redrover: Nice sleuthing! Woo-hoo, we have a winner! You should be seeing 355 xmg pending network lag – this was a bit more involved than I had planned. If you know anything about Mount Shasta it has some rather unusual energies around it with reported sightings of strange lights around the top. The earth's crust generates a lot of rumblings and friction as it shifts around and every once in a while one of these bad boy volcanoes blows its top. <Humour> ShastaIt was a dark and clear night and I steadied my camera in anticipation of an unusual event having spotted the movement of energies on top of Mount Shasta. All at once the dark matter and dark energies of the womb of the Goddess consolidated into a giant magnifying lens, somewhat like the edge of a black hole, bringing into full view the glorious stars of the Cats Claw Nebula. (Or maybe it was the Hubble Space Telescope coupled with USGS elevation data, a day time photo and some advanced graphic software; I have trouble remembering). Anyhow, please choose whichever explanation you find more magical and if you don't get it, please understand that no intent was made to offend any person, place or non-corporal entity. </Humour> I hope you all enjoyed the contest - I did.

Wow thank you very much, that was a lot of fun searching all over trying to find the right one. Of course the hints made it even more fun and I thought I had it with Coors light or Busch, then the Volcano hint - I had no idea we had so many volcanos lol, of course the kicker was the tiki punch clue, just too funny. A very generous bonus prize, I think I will spread the wealth around to those who participated, Thanks again!

Thanks guys but I already tried it, it keeps reverting back to 32 . Maybe NeedIfFindIt can help since SweetSpot is his baby I believe. Thanks mate i'll give him a shout. I think Sweet Spot might have trouble handling even 32 threads and you might be better off giving my software a try. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=735170.msg11122703#msg11122703Thanks buddy, just noticed i'm in your pool too. Your software is handling 48 threads, much appreciated. massiveman you were already told once - this is the second time: Read the rules of PoM!! It was made for a reason, you're not following the rules. Don't want to be an asshole, but...LOWER YOUR HASHPOWER - 250 KH/S MAX!!

As soon as I clarified why I stopped. for all i knew Historical was just being a dick. I'm brand new to this coin and in my defense there are no rules listed on the pool website. Might want to think about shoving them on there.

Building on the great idea of Lightsplasher and his mountain in disguise (I hope he doesn't mind), I've started a game of Magi Trivial Pursuit over on the m-talk.org forum. Further details are available on this thread: http://m-talk.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=92Answers may only be posted on that forum, and therefore you will need to register there. There will be 10 questions. The first correct answer receives a 10 Magi reward, but the best answer receives a 15 Magi reward. More details at the above link. I hope a few people decided to play and it turns out to be a bit of fun.

Thank you @massiveman. EDIT: Anyway, added link to pool rules...

It looks like Azure changed their free trial rules and their pricing. The 20 CPU limit seems to be gone, but pricing wise it seems like you get the best bang for your buck if you have lots of little A0 VMs instead of a few big ones (the cheapest is ~$14/month, which goes pretty far against the free $200 you get). So far, I'm seeing over 2kH/s on each worker, which by itself sucks , but multiplied out might make a difference. I'll let you know how it goes...

I have i5 3470 CPU, what miner is best to use for windows 7 64 bit and pool mining? What hashrate I should expect?
Thank You.

Probably our fault for assuming everybody would know the limitations applied and yes, you're right, there should be something about it on the login page imho. I did wonder about 32+ threads .... thought you might be over-doing it somewhere. Glad to know that my software handles 48 threads though. Get in

I'm mining using some instances on Google Cloud compute. I have four n1-standard-2 instances, which are the largest that can be used during the free trial. The hash rate is a bit variable, but in general I'm seeing somewhere between 12-17kH/s for each core (I run each on a separate worker). At times I've seen them as high as 23-24kH/s. In 13 days I've burned $42 of my $300 trial credit. It all has to be used in 60 days. I also had $25 credit at AWS. I've been running a c4.large EC2 spot instance over there, which usually has a slightly higher hash rate than the Google instances.

I've got 4 in Google Cloud as well: Machine type n1-highcpu-2 (2 vCPU, 1.8 GB memory) CPU platform Intel Ivy Bridge Each VM is only putting out ~9kH/s though...what am I doing wrong? I'm using m7magi-cpuminer-v2 as my miner; is there a better one out there?
