I was very pleased to receive this email today not because of what it means for me individually, but because of Jered's apparent attempts to uphold ethical conduct.

I had written an email to TradeHill a few weeks ago condemning them for their treatment of smaller accounts (specifically those with < $5) after they shut down.  Today, I received this response:

Quote
XXXX,

My apologies on the long delay getting back to you.
I have been sending out checks or Bitcoins for accounts with very low balances.
Let me know which you would prefer and I'll take care of it for you.
I can't afford to pay people to process the small amounts so I'm doing it all myself.
I'm the only one working at TradeHill currently.

Regards,
Jered

Thank you Mr. Joint.

I want this to go as smoothly as possible and help add more credibility to Bitcoin.
I just moved 20k BTC to show that I didn't lose anything in the Linode hack.
You can see it at this link http://blockexplorer.com/address/1yvnLFMNRDRGKJ2dMqprzD68mtKga8uoJ
I'll probably move it out after it confirms.

I want to have this 99% wrapped up (getting close) before I move on to another project.
I've got a few things lined up that shouldn't be nearly as stressful and I can have a little more fun with.

Jered,

I've been impressed by your conduct since the beginning. I hope things work out better for you next time.

Are you able to say whether your next project is Bitcoin-related? It would be a real shame for the community to lose you.

If I've got the correct name with the ticket matched I sent you a response that said I have to talk to the bank after the weekend.
They're incredibly difficult to get information out of regarding what happened to the wire. I sent your wire out a while ago and should have arrived.
They need to contact your bank and get a statement which can take several days. It's too bad they can't just use blockexplorer.com
Thanks for your patience.

I'll PM you my email. In general I prefer support tickets because it's easier to track but this is fine.

Are you really sending wires for very small amounts? I would think giving the option of Bitcoins at market value or MtGox dollar code would be vastly superior in terms of cost and ease.

His email said people have the option of receiving their balance by cheque or in Bitcoins - nothing about wire transfers.

All I can say is that this is Bitcoin. I don't believe it until I see six confirmations.
